The other option would have probably been refund him the cost and no one wins... Given the use of random number generators if he would have pressed it at any time but the exact moment she did he would not have won.

It is his fault for not reading the rules and proceeding to threaten her when she was willing to share.

Hopefully the friend will give the money to the guy.

This is actually a very black and white hard fast rule in most casinos, especially Vegas. It doesnt matter whose money it is, it only matters who pushed the button. This isnt really news.

What a stupid rule It should be whose money was on the bet.

I'm genuinely surprised the casino didn't just outright invalidate the winnings due to her not being the one that put the money down. An 'invalid bet' if you will.

"Friend" pushes button. Why not split the winnings if they were going to fight over it? My guess is she is going to get facebook and twitter brigaded now and probably guilted into splitting it.

I can see how things could get a bit complicated if say a guy gives his girlfriend $100 to go gamble on her own or play a machine next to him and then claim that her winnings are his. OTOH, this guy put the money in himself and was sitting in front of the machine so it's really screwed up. That is a seriously shitty friend and for those claiming that she said she would share it only said that she was willing to share "some", for all we know that could have been $5,000 or something piddly. Although the rules say she is the winner by all logical aspects the money is rightfully his, hell I might have cut her some slack if she offered to split it with him but what she is doing is beyond fucked up.

"Friend" would have a fatal accident with no way to bring the blame back to me.

The button wont work without money being put in, so she is a wise and beautiful woman.

So you could go with a group of friends to the casino and just run around pressing people's buttons. If any of the machines wins anything you go collect their winnings.

But technically if any of the machines win before you get kicked out then the winnings are yours.

Pretty sure casinos can deny anything at any time. They generally choose not to because it's bad for business, but some have been known to do some shady stuff when it comes to very large winnings.

Surprised she was even willing to be interviewed after doing that.
