It's not over yet. ;) I agree this guy went beyond what he should have. What if you went chasing after this kid and during the chase, the kid runs you off the road and kills you. Would you consider this the guys fault or the kids fault?

The guy's fault for being dumb enough to chase, and the kid's fault for murdering the owner of the car.

Now what if the guy had his infant daughter in the backseat of the car that was stolen? Would he still be considered dumb by you?

Just remember, you have no idea what the thief will uses those items or the car for; for all you know, the thief might just resell them (car, nuke, papers) on the black market or might have malicous uses for them.

That would be the parent's maternal instincts to chase after the guy. It would still be the man's fault for following the thief. He made the decision to get in another car and chase after the guy. How could that possibly not be his fault!? :confused: Right and wrong go out the window when a parent gets put in this position - but it doesn't negate right and wrong. It would still be more correct to call the police and inform them that it is now a kidnapping case with an infant in the back.

In ANY case like this, the police are the ones to properly handle this.

Granted, if I were that parent, I would chase him down. Not fscking shoot at him, but I would grab my cell phone, call 911, and follow the guy. Not interfere, but follow. It's not worth risking the life of my baby.

What do you feel this guy should be sentenced? Base this upon if he never had a run in with the law before this one. I don't know if that is true or not, let's pretend. I personally think 1 - 2 years would be the max. And this would be a misdermeanor, no sense making this guy a felon over this.

The judge will understand the motive of the man who killed the criminal. I'd say a few years in prison and a few years probation.

Motivation? Car theft is no proper motivation for murder. Walking in on the milkman raping your wife. That's almost proper motivation for murder in the heat of the moment. A man with a gun to your child's head yelling at you that he's going to kill your child. That's motivation for murder as long as it's to get your child out of harm's way and not removing your child from the equasion and then killing the man.

Wow this thread is long.

He obviously got caught stealing twice, and who knows how many other countless times he did it. He planned on doing it more also. He probably just steals it, and destroys the car, it happens all the time. It is hurting a lot of people, and insurance companies. Besides not everyone has full coverage. He got what he deserves. The car could have sentimental value to the guy also.

One other thing is, how long will the police take once he calls them? By the time they come, they won't be able to find the kid. The car is probably destroyed if they ever find it.

There are hundreds of THOUSANDS of people who have DIED to be able to ensure that people like that little 15yr old would have the CHANCE to reform and become a better person.

And you're throwing it in their face, belitting their sacrifice, and showing that you really don't deserve to even live in this country.

car theft is justification to me. i dont know i'd do it out of my own mental health concerns afterwards but i certainly wouldn't protest if someone else did.
