I know people eat dogs in some places in the world, but I can't believe after having it as a family pet they just decided to kill it and eat it.

Plenty of people do this. I had a pet Dog in Korea that we killed had stewed. It was delicious. But mostly they use "bad" breeds more or less specifically bred for the purposes of eating.

So the rumors are true.

I grew up in Korea until I was 9 and we never ate dogs. It's more of a taboo now, since the newer generations frowns upon eating them.

I think it's mostly the younger girls. All the younger guys I know ( < 30 years old) love it.

Is that why the Dog Meat Restaurant Association applied for a license to serve dog meat during World Cup?

TBH i won't eat a dog stew neither, it's not the right way to eat a dog. it should be roasted, like the man in op's article does.

Stir fry is the preferred method in Taiwan.

There ought to be a law. Killing and eating man's best friend is the ultimate act of betrayal.

PETA alert...

Look, humans kill other humans and eat their meat... still... what makes you think dogs can be spared?

I love dog, I would not personally eat dog meat, but forbidding others from eating dog meat is going too far. Only thing I can oppose is inhumane treatment, such as beating to death.

Are we not Americans? Do we not make our own laws? Were there not dogs at Valley Forge? Where in the Constitution does it give foreigners the right to eat dogs in America?

Is this a contest to try and cram as many logical fallacies into one post as possible? I know I waste my effort because anyone stupid enough to make the above post will probably have to look up half the words in this paragraph on dictionary.com (bookmark it, it saves time).

Shelters euthanize 4 million dogs every year in this country. But one person eating the meat afterward makes the ghost of George Washington cry? Grow the fuck up.

I really hate clichés but here is one. "Think Globally". And I am not American, I hope for your sake I don't get to make American Laws. There is no law in America (as far as I can tell) that prohibits eating dogs.
