How does this happen? Aren't these peace officers supposed to be trained to deal with such situations?

I'll tell you exactly how it happened as reported by the news. The victim was apparently in a car wreck, was injured and seeking help. He knocks on the door of the nearest home - a woman there is scared and calls police.

Police arrive, the officer sees a man approaching him in the dark. Officer fires a taser first - but to no effect. The man continues to approach. How fast? In a threatening manner? No idea.

Clearly the officer did not see a weapon before killing. Is that a requirement? If not, maybe it should be.

tip #1. Don't run towards anyone, especially the police and more so especially if its dark out. It's just no safe to do so.

That aside, if the man was hurt, he should have just laid there and yelled help me or something. Sounds like both were a couple of dumbasses which never helps when one encounters the other.

Probably just a simple mistake. The police obviously didn't understand the situation. The guy did not clearly communicate what the problem was. It's really sad, but sometimes bad things happen.

The officer was charged with voluntary manslaughter. I hope his fellow officers are 100% truthful about the events, rather than lie to protect one of their own.

Stun gun?? I call BS.

Our military state these days its shoot and ask questions later.

Which is why all prevailing, blind faith in the state is foolish at best because even with the best intentions the state can still manage to fuck you over.

Have you heard about the case in Toronto?

Cop shot a guy who pulled his wang out and had a short knife 3 times, took a couple second break after the guy was down, then shot him 6 more times. Coroner/police said that 8 of 9 shots hit.

The cake and funny/sad thing?

He got tased by another cop the guy was on the ground with 8 holes in him and a group of cops standing over his body. All caught on camera.

Both? No, I doubt it. Seems a pretty clear cut case of rife police ineptness resulting in death of a guy. Further I will assume that his size and color played into their decision, since I need to find SOME motivation for how a guy after a car accident ends up dead in a situation like this.

The first mistake was almost certainly tazing him. I can't imagine that was warranted whatsoever. I assume big black guy running at night lets get the tazer out!

Perhaps the guy was in shock and simply couldn't communicate clearly. It happens easily if you've been injured and or been through something traumatic like a car accident.

Could also be that an injured person can't speak the language. Clearly police need more avenues of pursuit than "I better shoot, it just might be a criminal."

It's really sad, but sometimes bad things happen.
Innocent people getting killed simply can't be waved away that easily. Would you be so casual about it if it'd been a member of your family shot to death like that?

Protect and serve.

How come nobody has reported how dumbass cops gunned down a few bystanders yesterday while they were trying to chase someone else?

One of the people they shot was a lady with a walker. Minding her own damn business and gets shot down by retard cops.

Actually the very existence of "state" is to fuck someone over, all the time, somewhere.

And the cop is facing charges for it.

Nothing to see here.

A cop comes running down a dark alley at you. You don't know who it is and to protect yourself you fire a couple shots that kill him. Do you think you would get a $50,000 bond and released!? HAHAHA

That's just the first part. How much you wanna bet this guy gets off with a slap on the wrist? Do you think you would get the same treatment from these thugs?

smh

start your own thread about it...

Although this sounds like an accident, it's still sad. At least the cop is having charges brought against him. We don't need cops like this roaming free.

One can hope. But I think our faith in Law Enforcement has dwindled quickly in the last couple decades. I wouldn't trust a cop to be truthful about something like this.

The cop is getting charged, so it looks like the right thing is being done here. That doesn't bring the victim back though.

Seems like in a lot of instances, officers these days are much to ready to pull the trigger, whether it's the taser or the gun... those should be actions of last resort, not the first thing you do when you're not sure about what's going on.

I disagree. The officers he served under are also responsible for him. In hiring, training, and allowing him to go out there in the first place. If he would act in a criminal way, the people who placed him in that position should also be held responsible for their part.

Being charged and being convicted are 2 different things.

Lets see if the other cops try and cover it up or the charges are reduced down to a light slap on the wrist and back on the force.

I am absolutely amazed that the murdering cop was even charged, although I guarantee that come trial date that everyone all the sudden forgets what happened.

And LOL at "the guy shouldn't have walked towards the cops".

Only in the US do you hear these sort of BS excuses for a militarized police shooting first and asking questions later.

It was a guy, likely in mild shock, who just was in a horrible accident. He goes to who SHOULD be a safe person, and gets executed.

I plan to follow this case through trial, I hope that the cop serves time for this.
