Man, apparently I'm a huge ass and belong on your DNT list.

Full refund, throw away the POS motherboard and eliminate the return shipping. Too easy. This thread should never had been necessary nor any hard feelings passed.
Indeed. Threads like that remind me of why I don't do much trading anymore. Too much petty BS over pennies.

This gets trickier when both parties have little or marginal heat. Back in the day when I was a more active trader, I actually had a guy with really good heat buy something from me that was relatively cheap. Somehow the PO destroyed it in-transit. It really wasn't worth insuring (I think I sold it for like $20).

When he e-mailed me and told me that the part didn't work, I just told him to go ahead and pitch it and I'll send the money back.

There's no reason for this to be this complicated. The seller clearly didn't know that the board worked or not - furthermore since it came bare it's likely surplus. As long as the buyer has good heat and can demonstrate that the board is the same as the one shipped (Pic of serial), there's no reason in the world for the seller to want the board back. It garbage and that's where it belongs.

My vote - buyer gets $30 back, seller agrees to not need board back, board ends up in trash, everyone happy.

seller shouldn't eat 100% of shipment costs, but shouldn't keep all 8 dollars.

Read the correspondance, seller shipped priority on buyer's request, seller should refund amount equal to normal shipping, buyer should pay for the upgrade to priority.

What I wonder is how in the hell it cost 8 bucks... I've shipped a mobo from the midwest to cali packaged like a tank and it cost about 4.50. parcel post would have cost 3.90 or something like that.

Am I that out of line here? Wasn't even really condoning the sellers position, but I can understand it. (although my position sort of changed once I think I figured out what was going on.)

So add me to your DNT list for having low expectations for a seller.

Thanks for the warning, you have been added

Easy solution:

1. Take pic of what you are selling and write down serial number.
2. Sell it.
3. If item is DOA, have the buyer hit it with a 25 lb. maul and tell them to take a pic of the obvious damage and serial number. BTW: This is probably bad advice on a $400.00 video card.
4. Refund money. Shipping defective stuff around the country is just pointless.

Problem solved.
