This is for you eskimospy. I mean we all now Obama is more liked now than ever before so obviously this is all malicious slandering of Our Great Leader right?

I guess this is what happens when racism rears its ugly head and people vote for someone based on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. And Martin Luther cried.

Majority Would Vote Against Obama

A year into his tenure, a majority of Americans would already vote against Pres. Obama if the '12 elections were held today, according to a new survey.

The Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll shows 50% say they would probably or definitely vote for someone else. Fully 37% say they would definitely cast a ballot against Obama. Meanwhile, just 39% would vote to re-elect the pres. to a 2nd term, and only 23% say they definitely would do so.

Obama's first year in office has been marked by an unemployment rate that surged to 10%, an increased commitment of troops to Afghanistan and a health care battle that has taken a serious political toll on the WH.

Obama's approval rating is down to 47%, the poll showed, a 14-point drop since the April survey. 45% disapprove, up 17 points from April. Only 41% say they trust Obama more than Congressional GOPers, while 33% pick the GOP over the WH. That 8-point gap is down from a 21-point edge Obama sported as recently as Sept.

Just 34% say the country is moving in the right direction, down 13 points since April, and 55% say it is off on the wrong track, up 13 points over the same period.

But as GOPers focus on taxes and spending, that message seems to be causing Obama the most harm. Among those who believe Obama's policies have moved the country in the wrong direction, 45% cite spending and government regulation as a top cause for their opposition.

Meanwhile, those who think Obama's policies are moving the country down the right track largely cite long-term benefits of his initiatives.

In the meantime, health care legislation is by no means popular, but a majority of Americans don't oppose the legislation yet. 44% said they support the legislation under consideration, down 5 points from the last poll in Sept., while 46% oppose it.

The poll, conducted by Financial Dynamics, surveyed 1,200 adults between Jan. 3-7 for a margin of error of +/- 2.8%.

Eh kind of pointless poll,
if the option is Palin/Jeb Bush (in that order), Obama would take a landsline win.

Well, unfortunately for them when you vote, you have to vote FOR someone. You can't vote "against Obama". So, ask those same people in 2012 when they see who the "against Obama" candidate is who they're for and those numbers won't be nearly the same.

In other words, that poll is worded incredibly strategically to prove a predetermined point.

Well if things have not gotten significantly better by 2012 Obama doesn't deserve to be re-elected. Most with any common sense realize that it would be tough going for Obama at first considering the mess he inherited.

He will have 2 years to straighten out the mess.

With the magic touch; it will still take at least one year for the economy to revive. People have lost their chance at the WH because they were not better off now than 4 years ago.

Lame 007. You have to vote for someone too. It may, probably will be, a case of better the devil you know than an ignorant bible thumper who fell off the turnip truck. Now if they got Perry and economy still sucks maybe as he seems to have a fair amount of charisma - but then again FDR kept winning despite worsening economy under his tenure. I'd never count Obama out because he's an awesome politician, presidential in aura, and pretty well liked.

Unless the GOP changes it's steadfast tactic of combining bible and bullshit, Obama and the Dems don't have much to worry about.

I think Obama's goal is to utterly destroy the fabric of this nation by 2012, thereby installing himself as dear leader Obama. Nothing else explains his complete disregard for what the majority of this country wants.

Not that I think you have a clue as to what the majority of this country wants, but the true test of leader is not to do whatever is popular, but is to do what's right and be willing to be judged by history.

Specop, you're a moron. I never said Obama was more popular than ever, what I said was that his approval is close to what his share of the vote was when he was elected. Do you realize how bad you make conservatives look?

Well, he's been a disappointment to damn near everybody. Only the most groveling sycophants have not been disappointed. But vote against him? For who? McCain and lipstick pig? It's not like the alternative was any better.

This also shows the problem for the GOP. Folks hate the Congressional Dems, but like the Congressional Pubbies only a bit more. Obama is less popular than any modern president since Reagan, but like Reagan he inherited a shitty economy. Remember how popular Reagan became? I'm not ruling out the possibility that Obama is intentionally destroying the country (as per Saul Alinsky's cookbook for radicals and community organizers - but I repeat myself) but assuming he's not, the economy will almost certainly measurably improve by 2012. He has almost all the media on his side, most of the big money, and hundreds of billions to buy votes and simulate a recovery. Therefore in 2012 the Republicans have to have someone who not only is not Obama, but who also is someone the people like and trust, at least with the economy. I can't think of anyone that really fits that bill, and any unknown would have to become known via the press and the popular media, almost all of whom will still be hysterically pro-Obama in 2012. Neither 2010 nor especially 2012 will be a cakewalk for Republicans.

Plus, we all (for reasons of race relations if no other) have a certain amount of vested interest in Obama's presidency being considered a success. If he loses in 2012 to anything less than another Reagan (or another black) then many blacks will still see America as a racist nation where they won't be allowed to get ahead so why try, why not just sponge off the system? Beating Obama has its good points, but is likely to have its bad points as well.

Besides, I'm not at all certain we can keep this country going at its present rate until November 2012. We may be faced with something really, really ugly before America makes that choice.

Destroy the fabric how?

Nothing else explains his complete disregard for what the majority of this country wants.

I agree that he should be pushing harder for the public option that the majority of the country wants but do you have any other examples?
