This whole issue has been hashed out at doomplanet.com, which is most likely where most people got their info.

Bucksnort has the full picture with all the correct settings that will need to be set. And when they are all set they MAY have a possible increase on lower end machines / video cards. You should not see an increase on a high end machine outside of possible reloading times.

Because they're lying\exagerating to seem like l33t hackers.

What did I say in my post? Now if you had a choppy game go try it now but DONT BE LOOKING AT DEMO OR GAME FOR A MASSIVE FPS INCREASE

None of the tweaks mentioned in this thread gave me a frame rate increase in the timedemo. The game itself might be a bit smoother though, I'd have to test more.

Tried the cachemem tweak for 6800gt and x800pro and got rid of the millisecond stutter whenever multiple monsters spawn in the room.

average fraps stays the same when no firefights. it helped me for my fraps to not dip all the way low 20's during firefight with multiple spawns.

With 1 gig system memory:
seta image_useCache "1"
seta image_cacheMegs "256"
seta image_cacheMinK "20480"

original values for me were: 0, 20, 200.

still have to test "1, 128, 10240" values.

My aperature size is 64mb. When I make it any higher than that, my computer will not boot, and I can't even go back into the BIOS. I have to actually reset the CMOS.

Is there some other setting I need to know about?
