while true, I still don't see buying kids laptops as being functionally teaching them much of anything. our kids sometimes barely get the basics of non-tech stuff... but of course, this varies from place to place, and Maine, I suspect, isn't failing left and right.
But unless they have a specific way of using these to further kid's education, I still find it a waste, regardless of whether they are macs or not. Now, if they have a plan, and a goal in mind other than "let's give them all laptops!" then I'll stand down on the comment. But it just seems people throw technology at a problems before actually figuring out what they can actually do with it.
