Didn't see another thread about this.

Mafia 2 demo is available on Steam August 10th.

So in half an hour ? :) Likely not, but sometime tomorrow it will be up for download on Steam.

Can't wait for this one, the first game was amazing.

demo releases shortly, good thing I'm on vacation!

Says it's going to release at 12:00 am PT. I haven't actually tried the first one but this one looks pretty sweet.

Damn, I'm impressed with this. The mechanics handle really well and the graphics look astounding. I'm really contemplating picking this up now.

I'm basically 100% sure I'm buying the game anyway so I don't think I'll bother with the demo.

Yeah, not bothering since I pre-ordered and would rather wait.

Opinion around the net is positive. Awesome.

@ StinkyPinky

The demo specificly anounces that the trial-level you will play in the demo won't be included in the final game. So feel free to try it out, you wont see anything youre about to see in the final game as far as I've understood.

Grabbing this now, been looking forward to it. The original Mafia is a contender for my favorite game of all time.

I've been avoiding all talk of this game up until this month since it's getting close. So far the gameplay vid's I've seen look like they just expanded/updated the first Mafia game and not re-invented the wheel, which is great.

The part I liked about this game is the cover system, it feels slick and very natural. Driving was IMO just ok, not a fan of driving old cars.

Just played it and thought it was quite fun! I think I'll pick it up on steam when it comes out. Only annoyance I had was the driving dynamics. I can adapt but I thought they kind of sucked.

This game is just a 50s mod of GTA.

HA! Mafia 1 came out before GTA3. If anything then GTA is a clone of Mafia.

Mafia>GTA

Driving is fine, change the setting in options to simulation. If you still have a problem with it then you have issues. These are made out of metal, they are heavier then the cars today.

I thought it did too, but apparently not.

Whilst this may be true, they are completely different games. GTA clone set in the old days? You get pulled over by the cops for shooting someone in GTA3...that is about it. Mafia is very realistic in the handling and interaction, and the story was great. GTA3, not so much. I love GTA3, but Mafia is a different game.

Wow for the exact same combat scheme of GTA4, this game is actually controllable. I've been working on GTA4 for a while now on the PC and its a damn chore. The port is pretty bad, but I recall the controls always being clunky. Hopefully RockStar just flat out steals a proper control.

As for the game, I don't know. Fighting is fun, but another round of mafia stuff in the 50s, ugh. Driving is dull to. There was a game called Driver for the playstation. That game was damn fun to drive.

Tristicus, I agree 100%. Mafia and GTA are different games, and I enjoyed them all.

Ran on max settings for me @ 1920x1200 res (minus PHYSX of course).

Q6600 @ 3.1GHz
ATI Radeon 4870
4GB DDR2

Not sure of the framerate but I didn't notice any jitters or hiccups and it seemed really smooth.
