Hmmm... Not interested.

The 1.8" drive is gonna be very, very slow. Plus it's $1800 with no optical drive. It does come with 2 GB RAM though.

I'm glad I kept my MacBook.

P.S. I betcha that 5 hour battery life is more like 2+ hours. Well, maybe 3+. (The MacBook is advertised as 6 hours.)

usb aircard or tether via bluetooh, altough the USB aircard is HUGE, it'd be funny to see it hanging off the side of such a tiny laptop.

With such limited expandability and a roadwarrior-desirable form factor, I'm really surprised it doesn't have builtin EVDO or HSDPA modem. Oh well, there are USB modems or phone over BT/USB.

My boss owes me a bonus from a project this year, he offered to buy me an XPS m1330. I held off...I'm going to see if I can extort him for one of these and give the gf my macbook. :)

I really hope they add tethering functionality to the iPhone. That would be the PERFECT combination in my book.

Meh, I already tether my Dash, EDGE is just too damn slow to do anything. I'm probably going to get a USB EVDO modem in April when I move anyways...going to have a longer train commute.

well, I still like to buy CD's and then rip them. Also, I do some video work that I need to be able to burn DVD's. I should not have said that it bothers me, it just showed me that the AIR is not for me at this time.

I'm in the minority, apparently, but I like it. A lot!

I could care less about the loss of an optical. I've got several USB cd/dvd units if I ever really needed it.

Price is a tad high, but there's nothing like it out there. What do you expect?

I'm with you as well, I think it's great. Just wish there was builtin WWAN of some sort. $3100 with an SSD is fucking highway robbery though.

other hidden stuff that people might not have noticed...or didnt go on apple.com

-uses the newer core 2 duos that have 800mhz fsb.
-chipset still can only use ddr2-667 ram though.
-micro-dvi to dvi and micro dvi to vga adapters are both included. micro dvi to composite, as well as micro dvi to s-video are extras.
-video is gma x3100 144MB (yes 144MB) if anyone was wondering.
-resolution is the same as the macbook, at 1280x800 but LED backlit and glossy (yuck IMO).
-built in mono speaker, mic
-audio is only analog out and NOT digital.
-keyboard is backlit!
-usb wired ethernet is also available.

No RAM upgrade (2gb max)
No Firewire
No ExpressCard port

Eh...how am I supposed to run a VM? How am I supposed to hook up my shiny new Firewire HD camcorder? Without the ExpressCard port I can't even expand it to add Firewire...what the heck?

It's meant to be a strictly ultraportable machine...Steve would tell you to buy ANOTHER Mac to do that stuff! ;)

One other thing though, as Modeps said, I'm worried about the speed of that 1.8" HD. We have a couple Dell Latitudes with them, and they're pretty damn pokey.
