But it is. His point is that OSX is not open source because while it is built upon Open Source components it requires proprietary closed source components to utilize those Open Source components. Red Hat does not do this. If you download CentOS you are getting Red Hat Enterprise Linux for free. The full thing minus the Red Hat branding. What you are paying for from Red Hat is is support. Theres no hidden smoke and mirrors with RHEL preventing others from using it.

I'm quite familiar with RHEL and CentOS (and Fedora for that matter), I'm a bit of a distro whore.

Some of the points in his quote were actually about the licensing of the binaries and not availability of the source code, restrictions Redhat impose on their binaries as well.

I can argue that RHEL is only 99.99999999999999999% open source seing as parts (branding) are removed from the code in the public repos, but I'm not going to do that because that's not what the spirit of Open source is all about

When it comes to protecting myself and those I love I take no chances assuming the best of some random criminal.

And when it comes to ending someones life I don't assume everyone is out to get me, infact I don't assume the best, I don't assume the worst, I don't assume anything. Facts > Assumption

Yeah...that's REAL important:rolleyes:

You and I find different things important

I always have to LOL when I see Windows and "power user" in the same sentence.
Most Windows users don't have a clue when it comes to a *nix shell and the power and flexibility that comes with it.

Potentially yes, I'm not willing to wait and see though

We all understand you very well

Now I have to drive to Corpus Christi and won't be able to feed you for about 4 hours, so keep trolling, I'm sure some of the other nice forum members will throw you some scraps

Haha, cliffs:

Our resident criminal rights activist/apple fanboy assumes windows users who have no spyware are lying but refuses to believe a criminal breaking into your home is a threat, takes a special kind of stupid to combine those

Who's a criminal rights activist? / apple fanboy?
Who doesn't think that a criminal breaking into your home is a threat?

Thought I'd scan the last page of this thread and see what the interest was. Since I can't see HALF OF IT, now I know.
