Lizzy, yeah, at first a long time back I thought he was a total Mac fan by his posts, and then one day he said the oposite and freeked me out. Now I am not 100% sure which way he believes!!

Did you install the 10.3.9 Update as yet? Did here and Safari is much faster especially on Java sites. It fixed an issue with netgear routers and 10.3.8 also, and made Windows network shares come up VERY FAST. Overall inpressed. Notice more speed.

I didn't even know the 10.3.9 update was released! I am actually still on 10.3.7 I havent gotten around to updating yet, but I will try to update to 10.3.9 asap. Thanks for letting me know. I don't think I would have ever found out on my own. :p

What I don't like about 10.3.7 is that it killed the built in pop up blocker in Safari. Do you have any issues with pop ups in 10.3.9?

I was over at a friends helping with his systems and was on his wifes Imac G5 and it just popped up so I came home and grabbed it on both systems. Otherwise I might have not seen it till tomorrow.

My friend has a very FAST water cooled AMD 64 gaming rig and Dual G5 side by side. They are very close in speed except on some of the demanding games like Doom III. He kept the AMD 64 for his games and uses the Dual G5 for everything else.

So far no popups or PopBacks as some of these new popups are called as they pop back behind the main window. Every browser on my PCs get them too. So far nothing after the update. Will go to a few sites where I know they pop up and see what happens.

You are already known for your stupid posts regarding topics like these.

Shut up Mac Fanboy!

I'm no fanboy.

You do post Mac evangelical replies and threads all the time with Eug. Come out of the closet and openly accept the truth.

I was just wondering the same thing. He really adds a lot to the Windows side! Intel too.

I hardly run Software update and I don't visit Apple's site very often, so it may have been a while till I would actually notice the update.

I know in Doom III, the G5 lost in every test against some of the fastest PC's. Heck, Doom III on my brothers AMD XP 2600+ and his 6600GT runs extremely well.

I heard that the 10.3.8 update fixed the issue, but I wasn't a 100 percent sure. I hope 10.3.9 doesnt recieve pop backs!

Because I am a Mac user. Doesn't make me a fan boy.

And Philippine Mango was banned for 2 months for neffing the hell out of ATOT.

You're right. You didn't use those exact words. But you clearly implied that somehow PCs were inferior because they lack FW800 support, which couldn't be further from the truth.

It wasn't implied either. I was saying that the PC motherboards didn't support FW 800. That doesn't mean I am saying they are inferior. If you read previous posts, you would have saw someone post saying that Mac's don't support newer technologies. I, and n0cmonkey, was saying the PC motherboards didn't support FW 800. Doesn't mean we are trying to make PC's seem inferior.

Perhaps you didn't even take the time to read previous posts. :)

Perhaps this thread should die, since obviously we can't have a discussion without fanboy-ing on both sides of the aisle. I suppose it is no different than if the title of this thread were "ATi vs Nvidia" or "Intel vs AMD" we'd have a similiar debate (albeit minus a few mac zealots :D :p :) )

I couldn't agree more. I am tired of these kinds of threads. I wish the mods would go around locking these types of threads. There are valid reasons coming from both sides, a thread like this would probably never end. I hope this thread dies. :)

I hate it when I become a fanboy. :D:p

i think mac is at an enormous disadvantage because you cannot readily build one, like you can a PC. if you could, i'm sure many more people would experiment with a mac, just to get away from intel/amd/ms, and they may like it. i probably would have built one by now, just out of curiosity.

One thing for sure....Apple has the most loyal fans around.

I know people who spend hundreds to upgrade their G4's.

Several hundred to go from a 400Mhz to 500Mhz just on the processor...And not only that they instist on buying "Apple" memory...I mean Kingston Value ram runs just fine in them...But not good enough for them.

Just have to have the Apple wireless mouse and keyboard...And swear up and down that if you do any kind of graphics, film or music work that in a professional arena like big companies you will only find Mac's.

I dont get it...Bang for the buck I really do not think there is a comparison...Every comparision that I have ever read the Macs get destroyed...Have to admire the loyallty though of their fans and their fat wallets.

400mhz to 500mhz doesn't cost several hundreds. You are over exaggerating. I don't insist on Apple memory. I'd rather have Crucial. Apple's wireless mouse and keyboard is too expensive. $69 for a wireless 1 button mouse isn't worth it.

If you go to any hardcore PC website, they will only show the PC's winning. The most reputable site for Mac vs PC is Barefeats.

To its credit, the thing has never frozen or crashed, the case is awesome looking, and the visual effects are stunning. Also, it comes with a really neat game, where you roll a marble around a map and collect gems. Is this worth almost $3000? I think not. But for $3000 I would think that they could give me a fvcking 2 button mouse.
I think a lot of what people are paying for is the ease of use of OSX. That operating system babies you, and won't let you screw anything up. It drives me nuts, but little bro seems to like the fact that he can't break stuff by messing with settings.

Why did he pay 3000 for a machine that is 1899?

Where do you find processor upgrades for less than $100? I recall Sonnet upgrade cards for a Mac I woked on starting at $249.99 for a 600mhz G3 Processor Card. This was for a 200mhz leap. The price might have went down but looking at their website I don't see any upgrade for less than $149.99.

Why are you only looking at Sonnet? And 249 is ridiculous for a G3 upgrade, 600mhz. OWC has a G4 upgrade for the PM G3 for $129.

There is a difference between "several hundreds" and hundred dollars. Can you explain how 149 falls under several hundred dollars?
