It's a simple computer: simple hardware, simple interface, simple pricing scheme, built for simple people.

Oh yeah, I also want to strangle some of those people on their simple commercials. :D

Especially reply if you have seen Apple's latest ad campaign for their OSX. You know the one that totally trashes Windows, I know Apple's OS is no gem either. So Come On. Reply see if we can get it up to like 200 replies or something.
What are you, ignant? There are ~3 Apple threads a week here.. 2 of which are anti-Mac. Lord knows why you had to create another one. Oh, and about Apple's ads.. it's called capitalism. Don't like it? Move to China.

I'd like to have atleast 4 software titles available to me.

Plus I like my 5 button Explorer 3.0

Crashes during "Chuck a Duck"

If they are so superior at graphics why are SGI boxes Alpha and Intel

I've worked for MCI, USWest, Citicorp, Nextel, Coors, and a few other large corps.. no MAC... hmmm I'm so  as to why ;)
You're right about the 5 button Explorer. I heard it's not available for Macs.

If SGI's Alpha and Intel boxes are so superior at graphics, why is SGI on the verge of bankruptcy?

Maybe you should learn how to keep a stable job rather than bitch about the quality of Apple computers :p

Seriously, what is up with that? Apple advertises using DDR for L3 cache, but they're still using PC133. Perhaps they should outsource chipset design? Hypertransport? V-Link? Hell, even RDRAM? (Disclaimer: I am not familiar with Mac motherboards...)

so is that a good thing;the fact that they are slow and can' take advantage of the industry standard RAM chips?

i'd say that this thread is very misleading.

when you say that you're a mac hater...
what does that entail?

are you saying that you are an OSX hater?
or are you saying that you're a PPC hater?

if you have issues with Mac's OSX... then you can put in a different version of Linux.
if you have issues with PPC, then you're including other non-mac "PC"s that run on PPC platform.

so which is it?

I agree. THe PPC chip is definitely a good piece of hardware, but I think what most "machaters" trounce on is the hardware configuration of macs. Although the processor is top-notch albeight in a engineering stanpoint(p4 will crush it with massive mhz diff), the rest of the MAC architecture isn't as flashy as the chip

I dont have as much against them as I used to, they seem to be getting better with OSX. But heres a list of stuff I dont like:

Overpriced
Lack of software
Lack of upgradability
1 Button Mouse
No floppy drive ( need to buy one seperate )

I like MacOS X better than anything Microsoft has ever released, but I use KDE so I'm happy. I like they way they look but that and OS X is the only thing I like about em :p

Limited upgradability (hard drive, video card, ram..) aka cant build one.

Another one talking out of their ass. You can upgrade everything inside a modern mac, including the motherboard.

Czar has that right - nothing pisses me off more than the Mac mouse. One button, the action sucks, and that stupid iMac mouse (the round one) is the worst piece of hardware EVER, bar none.
Damn, the round mouse can't get NO respect. It got a bad rap because you're supposed to hold it like a pencil.. not like the way you would hold a regular mouse. Apple phased out the round mouse roughly two years ago though.

Also, I'd like to point out two things:

1. Macs are no longer "fruity". All the Macs are now cool-looking silver/white/brushed metal save for the older $700 iMac that Apple still sells to schools.
2. If you don't like the 1 button mouse, sell it on eBay for like $40 or $50 and buy a multiple button one.

I think you should re-title this thread:

The Thread of Ignorance

Proof starts with the original title... MAC = Media Access Control Mac = Macintosh

You do know you can use any USB mouse (including those with 5-6 buttons) on a Mac, right?
yes, my teacher had one while we were stuck with the ugly circle mouse thing with a big plastic crap on them so they wouldnt slip out of our palms.

The bad part is that Macos doesnt support it nativly(sp?)

Their commercials piss me off the most right now. I don't generally get mad about commercials or little things like that, but when one of those come on I seriously get this tight feeling inside and get very frustrated, mainly cause everything they say is BullSh!t. Anyway, i also hate their mouse, the lack of variation for file formats, etc...

The stability and speed of simple tasks is amazingly low. I was helping a friend order a new notebook of Dell with his brother's G4 (and super beautiful 19" Apple monitor), and a simple task like opening a NetScape browser took forever. Although it was on 56k, scrolling on a page with >1 pictures slowed to a crawl. Open a page in a new browser...shiver...I was late to work because of it.

We used iMacs in Pascal/C++ class..I'll give them credit for being so quiet and small in a good way.

Kinda pissed me off that his own K6 400 was faster and more stable, just had a damaged modem:confused:
