Is it just me, or is it totally not worth it? I mean, granted you get nicer brakes but aside from that, there's nothing... when I auto-x my car now, I just turn DSC off completely so the 'less intrusive' version of DSC is retarded. You can hold the button down for 8 seconds and disable it entirely.

The color however, ROCKS, but it's so close to the Mystic Blue that it's nothing special. That, and the wheels are gorgeous but again, they will just be expensive to replace and I like the 18s just fine.

Anyways, what do you guys think? I am going to put an order in for one in a few months time and I think I'm going to skip the competition package. I don't see it as worth the extra bucks.

Well I don't see a BMW being worth buying. I certainly wouldn't buy one even if I won the lottery.

To answer the OP, I tend to agree that the Competition package seems like a lot of money for little to no real-world benefit. I don't doubt that it's superior on a track, but it's a lot of coin. I love the paint, I love the wheels, I like the alcantara steering wheel, but all these things put together don't justify the cost IMO.

if you plan on buying an M3 and don't feel like splurging a few extra grand for the competition package, then you probably shouldn't be buying one at all...

For the difference in price I would take a Mustang GT instead and buy a Focus wagon for the wife. :)

I'd get it, specially if you're auto-xing.

I'd love to have one...I miss my '98 328i so much.....drive a police car now...sigh.

By the sounds of this thread, I thought the package was going to be $8,000. But at $4,000, I don't think it is so bad. I'm wondering how light those wheels are. If they are significantly less than the standard M wheels, then even better.

I'm not a Beamer lover, but the Saturn is not faster nor will it handle better. And I'd rather have an SRT-4 than the RedLine Ion, but its still not bad.
