M1911 guys, Springfield Mil-Spec still a good one?

I have the following 1911s and would recommend any of them:

Kimber Tactical Custom II
Kimber Eclipse (10mm)
Springfield Compact Operator
Smith & Wesson

Springfield's are great, but finding them in stock is nearly impossible and the waiting time is months.

That's news to me. Took me a few days to acquire my SA TRP Operator, although that was a number of years ago. Has something happened recently with the company that I should know about?

They just can't keep up with demand I guess. I sent Springfield an email about purchasing a PI9134LP in 9mm. They said at least 6-months.

Hopefully other models are a little better, but they are not that plentiful.

Maybe I'm just blind but what's so "ugly" about it? Aside from the front serrations and different sights it's prettty much a standard 1911...

that's a pic. In real life the finish is uneven...looking at it it does look good if it's your only handheld .45

volume.

especially since the FBI contact over a customizer speciality shop.

I think 1911 is HRT sidearm.

KK - That would make sense.

Though one would think they'd go with a Glock 21 instead if they wanted a .45 ACP over the .40... Certainly from a training perspective, anyhow, since it's the same mechanism and handling qualities in a slightly larger frame. i.e. - Just like the one they already know, except a little bigger bang.

The HRT guys wanted a single action, I take it?

Sure could...if I wanted a Sig or a Glock.

Definitely can tell by your choice of the PI9134LP in 9mm that you are a true 1911 fan. You have to be to spend that kind of money for 9 rounds of 9mm!

Jealous of your Eclipse though, I've been wanting a 10mm for awhile now...

I used to shoot a Glock 29 in 10mm. If you look at the ballistics, they have about 10% more energy than a .45 ACP. Nice round, but relatively expensive.

The Kimber 10mm is pretty awesome.
