I had lunch today with David McOwen and his lovely wife Debi. Have to say, they are great folks, really nice, funny and interesting, and I enjoyed it a lot. I post this only because some of the newer folks might judge him solely by the heat he gets from some of the other long time residents.

Other than that, Merry Christmas Anandtech!

McPwned.

The man who has to sign permission slips for vinegar
The man who has to pay $100 for a gallon of gas
The man who has to pay $100 for a gallon of milk
The man who had his house stolen, and apparently the police are ok with it.

I have no doubt that in real life Dave is a nice, funny, interesting guy. But he sure does come off as a lunatic on the internet.

I never really doubted this was true. Dave's posting style and history have contributed towards making him a target here, but the sorry-assed trolls who are so desperately wedded to putting him down at every turn are the real-life losers.

Was great meeting you and awesome BBQ in Chattanooga.
Not much of any BBQ up in Chicagoland.
Had not met any AT members last few years since was working in Denver back in 2006.

Merry Christmas & Happy New year AT

Now back to regular scheduled programming signing for balsamic vinegar.

well put. dave oft brings a smirk to my face with his antics, or from witnessing the troubling amount of mud and BS slung at him.

lulz

I have a large ignore list too though, but it's only because some of these members are ridiculously annoying. (i.e. the resident bi-british user who posts 100x a day)

You're crazy too.

Mr McOwen loaded a distributed-computing program, similar to the Seti@home screensaver, on the college's PCs so that spare computing capacity could help in a volunteer code-breaking challenge.

For his actions, he was charged with computer theft and computer trespass, facing a fine of up to $415,000 and anything from eight to 120 years in jail.

Very few people here have been screwed over by their employers as badly as Dave.
