Guess that means it will be cloudy here that day.

Actually I really need to figure out a better way to mount my telephoto lens for these type of events. Camera tripods suck as it's just 1 screw holding it so it wobbles too much.

It's either going to be cloudy or it's going to be -30 but clear skies. We'll see!

Might just plop my camera down with my telephoto and take a timelapse of it and just go inside then go back to move it once in a while.

I really need to find a better way to mount that thing though. A standard tripod is too wobbly for a lens that big. Would be cool to get something I can control remotely and see the image remotely.

I wish I had snow to plop myself in. It's gonna be single digits, with hard frozen ground due to the assload of rain we got last night. Snow's warm. Promising to be clear, so I'll probably check it out.

Way too cold to be out there for more than a minute at a time. I might go look at it real quick and try to get a free hand shot with the camera though.

Light clouds here, starting to breakup so there is hope.

Not eclipsing yet but figured I'd get ready by ensuring my lens is focused etc. The lens is manual focus and it's kinda tricky to get it dialed right in, think this is the best I can do, hopefully I don't nudge it as the moon is no longer visible from inside the house now.



I'll get some pics when it starts to go red.

Crisp and clear, with wood smoke in the air. Perfect night for moon watching. Still doesn't look like anything though. I'm using my old WWI navy binoculars. If I had thought of it, I could have brought a gun from work, and used a tripod.

A bit out of focus though I'll have to re-adjust next time I go out. Only get like a minute or so before I start getting frost bite so no time to setup tripod. I need a better tripod setup for this lens as the tripod is too wobbly anyway.

Looks like this scheduled maintenance on the moon hologram projectors is starting. Some of the mirrors are being cleaned I guess while they are changing the bulbs.
