Anyone here tried the 5-6 smaller meals a day plan, and lost fat eating that way? With regular aerobic exercise and weight training of course.
I started yesterday, and here is my plan today.

Breakfast: Small bowl of whole grain cereal / 1 cup of skim milk
Mid-Morning Snack: Half a low carb/protien bar
Lunch: Chicken Salad with Fat Free Miracle Whip dressing / 1/2 cup of Fat Free Yogurt
Mid-Afternoon Snack: Whey Protien Banana Shake
Dinner: Extra Lean Hamburger on Whole Wheat bread

Am I eating too much? I am only moderately active, due to the fact I must sit on my butt all day at work.
Any tips? Any success stories?
Heading to GeekFitness right now, but I just thought I would ask for ATOTs advice as well.

This is untrue, and I know this from experience. When I switched from eating twice a day to 5x or 6x a day, my calorie intake increased while I still began losing weight. The reason for this is that it speeds up your metabolism and you burn more calories just going about your average day. I was pretty tired before and now I'm full of energy all day.

Well I have read that eating 5-6 smaller meals per day spreads out your original 3 meals. When you eat larger meals, your body stores a portion of those meals as fat, for later use. But when your body expects food/energy every couple of hours, it won't store as much fat, because it knows it will get the energy it needs.
And also, you are less likely to overeat due to prolonged periods of time between meals. So although you will be hungry, you won't be as hungry.

Also, I may suggest you to drink a lot of water. Get rid of soda and beer. :)

I only drink water and diet sodas. I don't think I am willing to give up my diet coke.
I don't drink alcohol.

Try to give up drinking soda and drink juice instead.

People often leave out the effect of your metabolism, which is a huge factor in losing weight. Last year I couldn't cut down even though my calorie intake was very low, so I cut it even further. All this accomplished was making me tired all day. I was down to 1500-1800 calories per day, which is way too low. I didn't lose fat like I wanted to.

This is a common mistake that people make. Instead of eating cleaner foods, they start skipping meals which is a bad idea.

So I took advice of people at my gym who got in shape, and they recommended eating more, more often to speed up my metabolism. I increased it to 2400 calories per day and I started losing weight, and once I got to where I wanted to be I needed to eat more to maintain my weight. At around 2600 calories per day I'm maintaining my weight. When I went to bulk over the fall/winter, I was taking in 2800-3000 calories per day.

When you eat cleanly and get off your ass to do exercize, you can eat more calories than if you eat crap. For instance, if I ate 2800 calories of soda, hot dogs, and potato chips, there's no way I'd stay in shape. Not all food is created equal.

Why? Juice has more calories, something I would like to avoid.
It only has 40mg of sodium per can.

Yeah I've done it. It's a proven method, and it works. Count your calories. You weigh 145 IIRC, so I'd aim calories at 1800 or so and see how it works.

What is your goal? To build muscle, or to lose fat. Or may'be both.
I go to the gym every other day, and run 30 minutes on the days in between.
Although building muscle is good, I would like to just lose body fat and tone what I have.
I am not sure what you mean by bulk.

I'm trying to help you for the matter of fact. I don't know if I can help you because my metabolism level is maxed, of course I'm an asian.

For me, I eat any kind of food with rice and water everyday. It helps me to stay away from diabetes.

Are you involved with activities such as running? If so, I may suggest you to run miles before work. I did that many times before my college classes and still am running.

I'd like to just modify my eat habits, and leave it at that. I need to change the way I eat, but I feel once I start counting calories it becomes a diet. And I don't want a diet. This needs to stay.
I eat like crap. Cake and cookies and just whatever.
I am attempting to change that, but not stay within a certain boundary. Just eating healthy, cutting out all the junk, should be a major improvement.

I run in the afternoon, after I get home. I also lift weights every other day.
I don't have time in the morning, and although I could make time, I have plenty of time during the afternoon.

I agree. I plan to change it up every day. I have apples and bananas for snacks as well. That's just todays plan. Tomorrows will vary.

I want to do both, but you have to understand that you can't do both at once. If you are losing fat, you're going to lose some muscle along with it. This is unavoidable. Also, if you want to add muscle, you're going to gain some fat. So you have to do it in cycles, bulk up, cut down... bulk up, cut down.

They key is to gain more muscle than fat when you're bulking, and then lose more fat than muscle when you're cutting.

Man, I wish my mom raises you like she raised me. She forced me not to eat a lot of junk food. I used to eat a lot of junk food until I came to high school. I used to eat a lot of chocolate bars but now I cannot eat the whole Hershey chocolate bar, I only can eat 1/4 of them.

For me, I think it is kinda funny because I cannot gain weight from eating but drinking alcohol.

I'm 5'8" and 170 pounds. BMI says I'm overweight but my body is well-built with some body fat. I'm hoping to stay in shape.

Whatever you find works for you. Personally I've been counting calories for years. It's the only thing that keeps me on track.

My parents raised my to be fat. And I was. They didn't care. I lost alot of weight when I was younger, but I am finding it harder and harder to lose weight now. And I am tired of the extra fat I am carrying around. I'd like to lose about 15lbs, in about 2 months.

How do you go about doing something like that? Just have a pencil and paper, and write it all down?
Or have you done it so long you can add it up in your head?
