I am getting low frame rates in sli I have two evga 7800gt. One is the co version and the other is the stock cooler. I have run fraps in bf2 and cod2, and I get only about 15 fps max in cod2 and about 20 in bf2!! Help me please!! Is there something I am missing.

wow 15fps is low for a 6800gt let alone half of what you got

is directx 9.0c installed?
do you have the latest chipset drivers?...would be AMD nforce4 v6.70(never run anything off cd drivers)

do you have v81.94 graphics driver installed?

go into your graphics settings,...right click on open desktop/properties/settings/advanced button/geforce 7800gt tab/ and click on SLi multi gpu on the panel that slides out on the left,...and make sure SLi multi gpu is enabled

and be sure you run disk cleanup and disk defrag after you instal games

other than this ,...list your system specs so we can see what yoru running for memory, cpu, motherboard etc.(along with yoru settings would be nice)

are you checking the framerate with fraps, or trying to record a movie?

if the latter, then its quite normal AFAIK. since it renders like 25 fps to your HDD, and thats nowhere near your GPU, your framerate drops like a stone.

else just update drivers, direct x 9.0c, check every setting and so forth.

make sure you have SLI actually enabled. also in the performance settings set it to view advance settings and scroll down till you see SLI rendering mode

this should be on MultiGPU

alternatively you could install coolbits and set this to AFR or AFR2.

Again make sure you have latest drivers for your Nforce 4 and for your graphics cards. ensure your not running something crazy like 8xSAA and 16xAF, you should set these to applictaion preference.

and just a possibility....whats your PSU like? i assume its pretty decent, but just check it can cope with 2 7800's. if theyre not getting enough power they may not be working properly

ok guys here goes. My system is this:

Psu: 520 watt OCZ Powerstream
Motherboard: DFI LanParty ut sli-dr
Cpu: 3000+ AMD 64
1gb g. skill ddr500 (in single channel waiting for friday for next chip for dual channel)
Evga 7800gt co
Evga 7800gt
Hardrive: western digital 200gb sata150
samsung dvdburner

My thoughts: I was running really nice settings with my single 7800gt things like ssaa, 8xs aa, and 16xaf. I was getting about the same framerates as i get now with those on.
So I back it back down turn off ssaa, bump it down to 4xaa and 8xaf, still not much of a framerate boost.

I have the newest forceware 81.94. I haven't put any chipset drivers on exept the ones that came with the board. The enable sli button is ticked. I am pretty sure I am not recording with fraps but I will check that, also what is this disk cleanup and disk defrag?

Thanks guys you have been a big help.

Install the nforce drivers.
As some said it.. MAKE SURE YOU ARE RUNNING YOUR CARDS IN SLI!! so check in the NV panel.

Have you tried running both of the cards seperately? I wonder if maybe one of the cards is defective.

I have checked the NV panel they are enabled, I had the 7800gt co working by its self but not the 7800gt stock. I have updated the chipset driver and am going to do some bf2 fraps averages so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

what do you mean the 7800gt stock does not work by itself>? you dont have a screen if you run your display in non sli on the 7800gt stock?

Are both cards clocked the same? I assume the clocks are different since they're different models. Try downclocking both cards to the clockspeed of the lesser card if you aren't already.

I haven't tried running just the 7800gt stock by it's self.

I haven't tried that yet, I turned of ssaa and bf2 played alright no lock ups or anything. Do you guys think it could be ram because it isn't in dual channel? I run the textures at medium because i don't have 2Gb ram yet.

No there shouldn't be a problem with 1 gb of RAM in single channel. Just play without the saa until the RAM comes in...

Well it's more heavy on the GPU I think . . . ;)

Yeah at this point in time, 8xSSAA isn't really feasible in newer games even if you have SLI configurations . . .

SSAA is just plain taxing. Older games like UT2004 can handle it pretty well but the newer games get hit pretty hard even with SLI and especially at 8xSSAA.

EDIT: Doh, beat me too it.

yes but ssaa is soooo pretty!!!!!! I wish ATI and Nvidia would hurry up with R800 and G100 already so I can play bf5 on 32x ssaa!!!!!
