The good news keeps rolling in for Republicans in the 2016 elections when the Louisiana election adds 1 new Senator and 2 new Representatives to the House.

I still find it funny that we elected a democrat for governor (going to hear him speak on Tues). Hatred of Jindal coupled with Vitters prostitution issue got him in, and I don't think Edwards is too bad if he can just get the damned budget under control. Unfortunately curbing spending isn't really in his playbook.


As for the current election I've got nothing really to add other than I'm not a big Foster Campbell fan.
 
Sounded like both the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidate were equally slimy, essentially interchangeable old white guys.

Thanks for the correction. I think this makes it 52 republican Senators and 46 Democrat Senators, 1 Socialist Senator and 1 Independent Senator that may caucus with the Democrats. It also brings the House membership to 247 Republicans to 188 Democrats. A good chance in the 2018 Senate races for Republicans to pick up an additional 8 - 10 seats.

2) You do know that New Orleans has a higher murder rate, right? And that Chicago isn't even in the top 25, right? And that Louisiana as a state is second only to Alaska in firearm deaths per 100,000, right?

What does their race have to do with ahything? Would you say the same thing about candidates of a different ethnic group? Essentially interchangable slimy black guys, or essentially interchangeable slimy hispanics?

I don't think this makes much difference in the grand scheme, house was already strongly in R hands, senate lead increases by one but not enough to change anything.

Sorry, i was educated by a union instructor in a public school. I'd like to see a reliable citation on murder rates. That is murder btw, not suicide.
