I'm enjoying his show so far even though it has some rough patches. I think it has a good overall base to it. He's doing this by himself for the most part, so it'll take him a while to find his stride. I have no doubt in my mind that the show and concepts will get exponentially better as he gets more experience.

That's kinda how I feel about it too. Hopefully it doesn't die before it picks up.

Louis CK seems to be one of the best-respected comics, but I must say I've never seen him be even marginally funny. I had high hopes for Lucky Louie based on his reputation, but it was just unwatchable. Hopefully Louie will be better . . .

Clearly we have different opinions, because that's probably the funniest show that I've ever watched. Not the best, but the funniest.

I watched the first 2 on Hulu. I love it.

Second episode had like a whole discussion on gay sex. You can see there is a lot of social commentary embedded into the humor.

I just watched 2 episodes ondemand. as I figured he started out the show with a 15 minute segment on his kids, then went into his awkward relationship skits.

I highly doubt this show will last long, it's actually worse than Lucky Louie. Maybe if I was a little bit older, like in my 40's, this humor would be more appealing to me, but I just find it so bland.

Agreed! The mixture of raw humor and rawer social

commentary was hilarious, poignant and profound all at the same time.

Yeah, I can see this. The show's not for everyone. There wasn't even one single vampire or car chase in either of the first two eps. ;)

In all seriousness, the humor is low key and based on his life. I mean, he's no edgy, punchy comedy giant laugh machine like Carrot Top or Gallagher. :awe:

Vampires and car chases ARE really funny :D

Actually, I was looking for material that isn't as tired. He just reminds me of a worn out middle aged man complaining about his life and sharing everyday stories that may or may not be funny to people. I'm more for creative comedy, not just, "my daughter pissed her bed today, I had to clean it up, my bank account is overdrawn blah blah blah". It's just old humor to me. I don't go to comedy clubs to hear about other peoples problems, I have enough of my own.

Understood. Like I said, his show is definitely not for everyone.

It's obvious he doesn't have a stable of high priced comedy writers in his employ. It's also obvious he's spending ~17 cents total to produce each episode. I like anyway.

And, like I said before, I was impressed to holy hell by the extended bull session, principally about gay guys, with a gay guy, while they were playing poker.

It's obvious they just winged this scene around the central premise, and it's cut and "performed" like amateur night as opposed to the plasticine perfection of, say, 24, but I was impressed by the unrelenting, no turning away or prettying it all up with inserted one liner RAW REALNESS of that scene.

Unique. It was . . . unique.

All in one, it managed to encompass both the deep personal disgust AND the affectionate man-type camaraderie between those guys, one of whom just happens to unapologetically smoke bone.

Deep.

There was an amazing real life richness and complexity to that it, which I think goes back to Louie CK's natural humanity. The guy has a heart, and it shows in that scene and in his stand-up.

Again, unique. A real change of pace. How many times do you see something truly unique on a basic cable sitcom? It just resonated and then stuck with me, is all.

It was poignant in parts, and it made me laugh out loud in others. THAT'S dynamic range, for you! :D

Plus, it's finally on the web:

Entire 7 minute scene.

Extended raw talk about being a homo begins

"Is there a lesser charge for just watching?" :awe:

"Your mother's shit maker" discussion that segues into the homo discussion

"So, try to get a card in there."

"Ok, that does make sense." :D

Nope, in my early 30's, I just don't like his style of comedy I guess. I'm more into comedic styles like Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle.

Wow, very thorough review of the show, you are really into this guy.

I definitely agree with your quote above. I see what you mean about the "This guy has a heart" statement. That definitely comes through, when we were watching, my wife even mentioned that he seems like a softy, probably a genuinely nice guy IRL.

:sneaky:

If he's black, that is understandable.

Louie's comedy is a little raw and unPC for some people and it probably offends some people (intended or not, it's the net result).

I said Dave Chappelle, not Chris Rock, Dave's the white man's black comic :awe:

And Bill Burr is whiter than me, like sickly looking white irish skin on that dude.

Hard to get whiter than a redhead like Louie, unless you're albino.

Also good! Two sexually unattractive people finding brief, tawdry physical release in one another through the power of facebook and principally because they had a juvenile semi-non-moment twenty-five years ago in junior high! :awe:

The kid's from "Zoo York".

Obviously...

^^^ Tries to pile on, misses the whole adult argument/scrum/pile entirely, and lands, face first, in the angry red clay of redneck loserdom.

10 yard penalty and loss of face and down for letting your primitive social/class/regional/race bigotry show.

There is no room for bigoted assholes in professional ball! :awe:

Now pull your pants back up, wide that red clay off your fat, pasty face, rook, and get the hell off of our field.

I'm LOVING this show. I don't see how it'll last, but I love it. The first part of tonight's episode was absolutely fantastic.
