We use lotus here. It has got to be the worst email client. Slow, buggy, poor layout, not user friendly, cludgy. Outlook is *FAR* better.

The single most annoying thing about Notes, unless they have finally changed this since I last worked with it in 2004, is the fact that they refuse to follow any of the Windows conventions like F5 does a refresh, select an email and use shift select further up/down to highlight a block etc.

Outlook 2k3 at work, web based at home (gmail, yahoo, college account, etc)

Usually outlook is good, but some days the server just is sooo slow it makes email basically unusable

I thought that about Outlook and Exchange when I used it at my last job, but spend some time with Notes and you'll be looking back fondly on the great times you and Outlook had together.

Why do people use Lotus? Is it cheaper? I've never used it. I haven't been in the industry all that long (5 years) but I've dealt with probably 200+ companies, none used Lotus.

I used Lotus when I worked for IBM at my last position, boy did it suck. I use outlook now and I am much happier that I do.

Probably stuck with it and not worth the time or money to change away from it... as in, even if it's "worth it", there might be other things that provide a higher return than a new email application.

It's been the de facto email client of choice for years here. People's calendars are on it so no one wants to change.

Lotus Notes @ work and it suck a$$, lucky we(our department) figure out a way to port(if that is the right word) notes traffic to outlook. So I have outlook on the left LCD for email and notes on the right LCD for the database. =)

Currently we use Notes but are switching to Exchange in the next few months.

I've used both on and off again for different companies over the years and prefer Exchange/Outlook personally.

Outlook at home and work. I'm curious about thunderbird though. How deep do you need to get your hands in it and what are its advantages/disadvantages?

Work: Outlook 2007 using a Connector for MDaemon (provides many Exchange-like capabilities)
Home: Outlook 2003 for my calendar & contacts, a web interface for my mail (though only because my home connection is too unstable to use IMAP)

I used GroupWise a number of years ago... until I installed Outlook 2007, my favorite client was GroupWise client. Now I have to say that Outlook 2007 takes it, but that's given that I haven't seen the latest GroupWise client. 😉

Outlook 2003 at work and Thunderbird at home. I like Thunderbird a lot, but I may switch to Mail.app if I can figure out a way to import my contacts properly.
