The Elise is an amazing car, I'm jealous.

I'd still take a vette for about the same money.

C6 or Elise?

C6 with the Z51 suspension package, but if you want to take it to the track Elise all the way.

I know someone who got an Elise, fun car to drive but he kind of regrets buying it because it's very uncomfortable & it's his daily driver (only car he has). I thought the ride was somewhat harsh but fun.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine living with this car as a daily driver. As a fun weekend car or track car you can't beat it though. It's not uncomfortable to drive around for an hour or so but if I had to live with this car as my only mode of transportation I think I would tire of it quickly.

I drove it up to Orange County on Friday (spent a couple hours in it on the freeway and blasting around Seal Beach) and after that I was a bit sore and tired.

Funny, the demographics of people who buy this car is almost exclusively men.

So, I rented this baby this morning and drove it about 60 miles to see my friend in Seal Beach, CA. Man, what a car this is. Fun doesn't even begin to describe it...

Although, I feel kind of like I've been beat up today. My back hurts, I have a headache and getting in and out of that thing is like some sort of sick joke. With the top on you have literally fall into it butt first and then try to swing your legs in and around the steering wheel. It's much easier to do with the top off though.

The car is so viceral though, you can feel every bit of the road through the seats, the pedals, the shifter and the steering wheel. The car is very stiff and responds instantly to every input. Brakes are superb and I never found the limits of the car in a corner.

Compared to a WRX-STI I'd say take that car and lop off 1000lbs and kick it up a couple notches and you'd have this car...well, except for the practical interior and cushy ride of the STI (and an STI is cushy in comparison).

I drove it up to my friend's house this morning in the rain...the windshield wiper is okay but it's not great and the stereo is pretty much useless. I could only pick up two radio stations on it in Orange County and pretty much nothing comes in here in San Diego. When it did work it was buzzy and boomy and you can't hear it over the exhaust on the freeway anyway.

Once the roads dried up and the skies cleared I took the top off and really opened it up to see what she could do. Man, this thing cooks! It pulls strong from about 4k up to redline (I hit the rev limiter once...felt like someone turned off the engine). Man, the engine wails at full song too. Like a banshee. You cannot hear anything but the screaming coming from that little 1.8l Toyota engine.

The car leaps forward like a motorcycle. I took my neighbor for a ride in it and he commented on how it sounded and responded like a sport bike. He's right.

Anyway, the car is great fun to drive but completely impractical for even the shortest of daily driving. I can't imagine anyone ever buying one except for autocross or weekend joy rides.

girl car... give me my Stang GT Vert anyday with a Shaker 1000 audio I can hear clearly over a full flowmaster exhaust while making 400 hp =) for WAY way less... AND.. a full trunk and backseat =P

GT's are women's cars. Cobra's are where it's at. :p

Your GT doesn't handle near as well though and the brakes in Lotus are far far superior. It's a trade off, you trade creature comforts and hauling capacity for light weight and responsiveness. There are no compromises as far as performance goes in the Lotus. There is a ton of compromise in the Mustang.

And yes GM stuck a 4 banger in the Cameros, what a joke.

haha, great post. seriously, you kill me.

you ARE joking, right?

Please tell you me you didn't just call a Lotus a "girl car" and then in the same breath imply that a Mustang is for men! LOL!

What they don't know cannot hurt them. Plenty of people do it, same with Hertz and the GT-H's 1 and 50 years ago

If you wreck it, you buy it.

I drove that car like a stole it at times. I also drove it around quite leisurely for most of the 4 days I had it in my possession. Honestly, I don't think Enterprise really cares what you do with it so long as you don't damage it.

Does the car qualify for Enterprise's 50% of weekend rental type deals that they run?

I would guess no, as Hertz made me pay the full price even though I had numerous discounts that would apply for other cars when I rented one in CA last summer, but I would check their website since it is Enterprise and read the fine print.
