LOTR Fellowship movie will NOT be 2 hours 45 minutes long

Sweet! I'll have to buy the 20-gallon tub of popcorn, and go extra for the 900oz. intravenous Mr. Pibb feed . . . with attached catheter. 😉

Seriously though, I hope there's an intermission. I don't want to miss anything while using the restroom.

Thats awsome, but at the same time it sucks, cause you know in that amount of time your going to have to get up to piss. What if you miss a really, really good part? I guess you could pee in a cup.

The last long film I sat through was Magnolia and that was 3 hours 8 minutes...and it seemed like an eternity. I have a feeling I'll be savoring every minute of this film, though, hoping it won't end. Magnolia was a bit long in the tooth, but after reading Fellowship a few times, you really do need 3 hours to flesh out the story.

No intermission from what I know, so no beverages unless you have a well-trained bladder.

Good to see you didn't get your expectations too high. 😀

The sick thing is that us geeks will be waiting for the "four hour" DVD...

I really hope New Line doesn't get cold feet on the other two films....

The Two Towers and Return of the King have already been filmed. They filmed all three at once so they definately don't have cold feet.

That doesn't mean that the last two wouldn't go "direct-to-video" unless "Fellowship" doesn't make money during its release on the big screen... There's still a lot of work to be done on the other films, and if it fails at the box-office, then expect lesser production values if the others go "D-to-V"...

Wow nice... guess i better get the diaper ready... nothing i hate more than getting up to use the washroom during a movie.

Uh . . . Tremors 3 is direct to video. It's budget was about 2 million bucks. You don't spend 300 million dollars on three movies to do them direct to video.

ubernewman, do you know absolutely nothing about how the movie industry works, or are just sounding that way? New Line has invested 260 million dollars in these films, even if the first one fails, there is ZERO chance taht the 2nd two would go direct to video. The idea of that is simply preposterous.

Time will tell. If the first film tanks - then don't even think parts two and three will appear in a movie theater near you...

"Fellowship" is complete and if it doesn't appear to be able to make back its money for its cost, then don't expect the others to hit the big screen...

Again, I hope this film is great and everyone goes to see it - but be real about it - if it tanks, New Line will most likely "D-to-V" just to make their money back.

No way it can tank.
Even if it is the worst movie ever made, it will make $200,000,000 in a week BEFORE word gets out and stops people.

1. the movie will not tank. i have yet to hear of a negative review of it, not that critics really matter. but still.

2. my only concern is how they'll end the first movie. if its like the book, many non-fans who havent read the book will feel quite ripped off.

Would you belive I have never read the LOTR series?

If someone wants to send me a copy, PM me 🙂

I have no money to go buy it! The library HAS NO COPYS!
