This is already in the sunday ad thread. But it's worth its own thread.

Go to local BB, or order from bestbuy.com (free shipping)

ITS OUT!!!! I HAVE IT!

Picked this up today at Best Buy. I was actually a little surprised how fast the 5 disc sets were getting snapped up considering that they're twice as expensive. Ah well, I'm more than happy with 4 disc extended edition.

I got the platinum one (24.99) from walmart. I think all boxes have the movie tickets.

They have about half an hour of addition footage. It's info that is supposed to be good to see before you see The Two Towers (explains the gifts from the elves, etc.).

The 5 disk version is the same except it comes with a National Geographic "Making Of" disk and also a set of bookends.

My preorder from Best Buy was shipped last Weds and still isn't here (though the tracking info says it finally is in town as of noon today. So maybe I'll get it tomorrow...)

really? i wouldn't know, best buy hasn't sent me mine yet :(

That really sux :( But yah, this is an awesome DVD package. It extends some scenes nicely and includes some scenes from the book that didn't make the final cut of the movie. Anyone who has read the book will wish this was the theatrical version. Unlike SW2: AoTC, the added length from the scenes wasn't even noticeable. I didn't miss a single cut scene from disc2 of AoTC, decent footage, but nothing I wished I had scene earlier.

Yeah? If you hopped on that Netflix deal (two-week trial + $10 Best Buy gift card (Still waitin' on that)) IF you purchased Spiderman at Best Buy, there was a $2 off an movie $20+.....so I got mine for $22.95 :D. Oh, and I PM'd SW:E2 to the TRU $9.99 deal with no problem (TRU is completely out of stock here...even VHS!).

I couldn't agree more. I thought the same thing after watching the extended version.

Dont forget both the extended version (4-disc $24.99) comes with a voucher for a free movie ticket to Two Towers for up to $10.50. That makes the movie like $17-$18 for the 4 disc set. Sweet deal.

Got the five disk set at Wallyworld last night and watched it... I liked it even better with the extended material. So did my wife who really isn't a fan of LOTR, but she said she thought it was better with the added character development. They show some more about Sam and his romance with a hobbit at the beginning of the movie, more about Gimli the dwarf, etc.
