That really sux But yah, this is an awesome DVD package. It extends some scenes nicely and includes some scenes from the book that didn't make the final cut of the movie. Anyone who has read the book will wish this was the theatrical version.

I sorta disagree. I thought the theatrical version did a better job of capturing the essence of the story, plus a lot of the added footage is comedy relief from the hobbits. The movie is still awesome, and the extra scenes are cool to look at. I think the best part of the added stuff is the Cast Commentary.

Not to rain on anyone's parade (and many may not care anyway), but keep in mind that the free movie "tickets" you get in these promotions usually have restrictions, such as not being valid for the first couple weeks the movie is out. It may be good for a re-view, though. Actually, I'll see TTT more than once regardless, so nevermind!

I wouldnt think there would be any restrictions on the ticket. Its only good through 12/30/02 so you HAVE to go see it in the first week or you can't use it period.

The only restrictions on the ticket have to do with certain theatre chains and a max ticket price amount. It is good from the first day of release (12/18) through the end of the month so I see no reason why you can't trade it in to see it the first day.

the max ticket price is 10.50 so that should cover just about any theater that i've ever seen and the list of places that it can be used at is huge. it has every chain i've ever seen and tons of ones i've never heard of.

If you haven't already opened it, and if you don't mind waiting a few days for shipping, return your Best Buy copy. You can still order at amazon ($25.99 shipped.) That actually works out to be about $1 less than the $24.99 price w/tax, and about $4 less than the $27.99 price w/tax. When my shipment arrived from amazon, I found out that my tax was $0. I'm in So. California, so depending on your location, YMMV.

I just saw it in Amazon. I think I'll cancel it. Thanks for the heads up. :)

same story here, bro. i didnt preorder but i ordered it over a week ago and i still havent received it yet. according to the tracking, its been sitting at the post office for the past 2 days. i highly doubt i'll order through their website in the future too.

reading how excited everyone is about their dvd is making me even more frustrated since the only thing i can do is wait...

That's unreal guys, I would definitely call and b1tch about it. What's the point of pre-ordering it if you get it by the time everyone and their dog has it? I received my copy the Friday before it was released on Tuesday, it shipped on Wednesday or Thursday. I didn't select any special delivery and I'm in Washington DC. IIRC the shipping location was somewhere in the midwest, Ohio maybe? Sounds to me like your copies didn't ship with their original stock, which is even more confusing b/c I think you mentioned you pre-ordered back in August or something like that.

Definitely give em a call. I tend not to order from them online ever after two debacles with the Ti200 Turbo from Black Friday and the infamous Ti4600 scam, but then again, if you raise a fuss, BB.com is pretty quick to issue gift cards :)

I think that's a problem with the shipping department/USPS, rather than BestBuy itself...

Actually, as hard as it is to believe, bestbuy.com is worse than its inept B&M sibling. Its like the retarded little brother in a family of inbreds. During the GF3 and GF4 debacles, I learned that the two entities are like two hands that have no idea what the other is doing. They have different CSR's, computer systems, inventory POS systems, inventory stock, price guidelines, policies etc etc etc. Hell, they won't even price match each other. Only recently, they began guaranteeing a low price if you pre-ordered and it was cheaper at the B&M if you selected store pick-up.

The most ridiculous thing is if you select in-store pick-up, the entire process is painstakingly manual. You're probably hopping in your car on the way to BB to pick up your order, but not the case. A fax comes in from some back room at the CSR desk. If someone happens to venture by it on their lunch/smoke break, they may decide to pick it up and actually call it into the stock room/warehouse, where it then has to be pulled and brought all the way up to the CSR desk. They then scan some generic SKU (which I'm sure appropriately adjusts both inventory systems since they are not linked), and you get your product!!! Yah it takes a while, its pathetic.
