I finally got to see it yesterday. Wow!!! I wanna see it again! 😀

Yes that movie totally kicked a$$. I'm going to go and see it again. Took the old Lady with me to see it, (cause she "wanted to go to the movies") Warned her that it might not be her kind of movie. She didn't care much for the TTT, but I've seen 2 chick flicks with her, so paybacks are hell...lol

Legolis totally kicked a$$ this movie too, he is just awesome, the drama in this movie is just excellent, as well as the graphics and writing.....man..instant classic imo.

Did everyone catch Legolas as he mounted that horse in mid-stride as the Isenghard hounds came bearing down on them? Freakin' nimble elves!

Got a "wow" from a bunch of people for sure.

I gotta go see it again, but I've been busy catching up with friends who got back home for Christmas. 🙂

not for nothing, i got more of a "WOW" effect watching Gollum's performance. i was completely mesmorized at how much emotion they put into that little animated creature.

and GONY sucked so bad, I won't even go into the details here.

Very nice achievement! Hopefully, these great box office numbers will prompt New Line Execs to let Peter Jackson make ROTK 3.5 to 4 hours long. 🙂

i'll probably be going to see it for my 2nd time tonight.. and i'll buy it on dvd.. gotta get em all once i got one

Yup my GF liked TTT. when Legolas mounted on that horse, she was liked shocked and said "woooo" 😀

I fear the success that the LoTR movies have seen is going to tempt other directors and producers to do half-arsed knockoffs of other book series.

. o O ("LoTR has made over $400 million domestically so far! People really like books-turned-into-movies! Let's hurry up and do <insert book series> before the fad passes! I bet we can hit $150 million per movie and not even have to try.")

I'd love to see the Hitchhiker's Guide series on the big screen with the same attention to detail that Peter Jackson gave LoTR. Could be difficult given that much of the HGTTG humor came from narrative asides. Still, I can hope... 🙂

Most definitely we'll see a slew of CRAPTASTIC fantasy films to come in the near future because of LOTR. Just avoid them and bask in the perfection that is LOTR 😀 You know none will ever match it, unless some company decides to make another series of films and put 7-8 years of work into it...

Good thing they filmed everything in one go! Watching TTT feels like I just finished watching FOTR, and the characters still look the same! 🙂

I just contributed today. It was great, theatre was almost empty at the 11 AM show and the movie was incredible.

Ill probably see it again tomorrow. This will make 6 for me.

I topped out with 10 for FOTR. I dont know if Ill make it that high with TTT, simply because I have more of a life now.

Wow! The Two Towers is well on it's way to making $350 million or maybe even more in north america. It's smoking Fellowship of the Ring!

In other news Catch Me If You Can isn't doing too bad but TTT still bested it by about $15m this weekend.

Gangs of New York is a box office BOMB...especially since people were hyping it so much. I still have to see it...was looking forward to it but seeing mixed reviews now.

Can someone explain to me why it's now considered cool to brag about how much money a movie is making? It's almost like we're cheering on the movie studios and theaters for overcharging us to see their movies.

Since I'm certainly not getting any of this money, I really don't care how much the movie makes.

No one said it's cool, it's just interesting.
And you're damn right I am cheering the studio on...they made my fav books of all time into movies and I love them. Of course I want them to be successful! They deserve it.

You're the one trying to act "cool" by proclaiming you don't care about such petty things.

Nice thread crap!

So nothing is worthwhile unless it benefits you personally?

People are happy because a director and studio that took a huge gamble to make a work of art are being rewarded for their effort. It often is not the case, people usually prefer the competent mainstream to something different.

they are only overcharging you if you are unwilling to pay for it. Personally, i find ticket prices reasonable, what i don't find reasonable is cost of concessions in the theatre. so i bring my own. 🙂
