yeah I'm curious about AMC

I just got done watching here at 2AM :p We had the volume and bass up so much that we got neighbors complaining to the front desk :Q

I really like all the aditions even if it was a bit slower. Couldn't complain about a single one.... great stuff and now I got not only Two Towers to look forward to but the DVD release of it as well :D!!

dunno about the music though. It seems like they just added a note or two here or there and stretched it out, sounds a little mangled at points...

And the 10 mins of names at the end are the biggest waste of bitrate I've ever seen in my life.....

I could have done without DTS to have it all on one disc too.

No it was totally recomposed.

Do you really think credits take up a lot of bitrate? It's just a tribute to big fans of the movie, and its after the normal credits...not like it interferes with your enjoyment of the movie or something.

jesus christ

And even without DTS I wouldn't throw a 3.5 hours movie with all those audio tracks on 1 disc...you sacrifice too much video quality. Even without DTS you'd still have only about 6GB left for 3.5 hours of video, which is not enough to make it look nice. Can you say compression artifacting and edge enhancement?

no dts for one disc? blasphemy!! i'm sure some people could have done without the 4 commentaries too. no wait, theres a standard edition right? :)

hell, why rated R :p

only thing i could complain about is why we're still using red laser dvds, we need the #@% space of blue laser DVD already.

and kami is right, sound doesn't take enough space that it could possibly fit on a single dvd. in fact you don't want it to fit on one dvd if it could barely fit anyways. ever heard of superbit dvds? the more bitrate you stuff into the video portion the better.

Well its been a few days and Ive finally been able to go through the dvd's and for all those bitching about dts, go out now and buy a dts receiver. The DTS soundtrack is much better than the EX one is. The extras were great and it was finnally cool to see how they pulled everything off. Overall Id say this is the greatest DVD ever.

The new action bits are very welcome (Legolas pounding off like 8 orcs at once, and Boromir's last stand has much more of an impact now). Lots more character development, lots of new music....just totally freakin awesome.

Holy freaking sh*t.

Can someone explain the new scene at the council in more detail? Why does Gandalf launch into the black speech right when Boromir is about to touch the ring... ?

I thik he's reciting the "One Ring" spiel in the language of Mordor. That's why Agent Smith gets a little cranky. Kami, care to correct me? As I've not read the books, I'm sure I'm due for it. :p

I dunno but Century, but AMC definately won't be taking them. A friend of mine had a long discussion with the manager of one of the local AMC theaters about this apparently.

man that was somewhat diasappointing..the behind the scenes stuff on the cast was probably the most entertaining.. but the additions really dragged the movie to a halt a points...only thing worth keeping is for the joke viggo told about frodo's stunt double...

"viggo, If anything happens save yourself..I don't know how to swim..."
"what? are you serious?"
"yeah...I'm even afraid to take a bath.."

that had me rolling....

It's good to see the comradery everyone experienced on set..
