Didn't the producers of the show come out and say last season that the islanders were not dead?

Great episode, btw. I'm totally hooked again. 😀

Oh man so many freaking clues/questions....the answers better not piss me off. They also better stick with a every week schedule unlike last season. I stopped watching because of that sh!t.
They can't... this is Sept. They have only 22-24 episodes per season and the tv season lasts through something like May or June. If it had started in January like 24 or Alias, then it would run straight through.

The purgotory theory is nice, but I don't buy it. For two reasons right off the bat.

Walt clearly has some kind of telekinetic powers and they were evident BEFORE the crash. So, at the very least, we are left to assume that powers like this are not non-existent in the universe of Lost.

Second, Desmond says to Jack "What if you could?" after Jack mentions that he couldn't fix her. Jack goes, huh, but Desmond's next comment doesn't answer his query like he was keeping a secret.

As an English student who did my fair share of creative writing, I can tell you that I frequently wrote in the same manner as Abrams.....creating a story that brought up impossible to predict or answer questions that I, the writer, didn't even know the answers to yet. It's really the only way to truly hardcore sell the reader on something because if you know the answers you can't help from giving some kind of foreshadow or pointing too directly in a certain direction. So that's just to say I don't think anybody can say what's really going on because Abrams probably doesn't know yet.

The writers of Lost are just jerking everyone off. And this is not the good kind of jerking off.

After catching up on this show I have to say that I agree.

just some things to think about, from what i've read online and stuff i remember:

Desmond kept asking Jack in the stadium if he was sure he didn't save his patient. it seemed like Desmond had some faith or premonition in a miracle. then the miracle of the Locke walking happened on the island. Locke has a connection with the hatch (and apparently Desmond inside) so those two seem to be connected. that leaves Desmond associated with two miracles.

also, keep in mind that Desmond told Jack in the stadium that he was "almost a doctor".

so weird.

How can we explain Locke walking again after the crash?

how can we explain a woman regaining the ability to use her lower extremities after irreparable spinal damage? 🙂

We can guess once we know how he was paralyzed. I don't recall finding that out yet. Possible it was psychological trauma or something.

a person living a normal life.

Well, he injects himself routinely with a mystery substance, has a computer, looks like he showers weekly, and is all by himself. So, ya, he's like every other person on this board.

Straight from the show:

Opening scene: a man wakes up, can't see his face. He's in a large room, geodesic dome kind of architecture...takes a shower...can't see his face but from behind he looks nothing like anyone we've seen before. Takes out a phonograph record (clue alert), puts the needle from an industrial kind of turntable on (clue alert) and this music from the 60's plays (clue alert) I can't remember the artist but it was like Petula Clark or something..."Sing my own kind of music, play my own special song" Make breakfast, still all we see is body parts, no face. Puts into a blender some powder, a FRESH egg, liquid. Shoots a vial of yellow liquid into his bicep with one of those "shot" guns. Starts excercising on a stationary bicycle. I see it is an old kind.

Heh, thanks for the laugh 😀

Now, could the guy from the hatch been there for 16 years? Would explain the old computer, record player, etc. But when we see him in the stadium it doesn't seem like 16 years ago?! Look at Jack, does he look 16yr younger there? More like 5 years methinks 😕.

another question. whats with the magnet behind that busted up door that was pulling on the key around jack's neck

I am thinking it was to keep from opening the hatch.

but it's not on all the time. otherwise, it would have pulled jack's key earlier on in the hatch (especially if it was being used to keep the hatch door closed)
