anyone who ever experienced a different culture will like the movie

Anybody who has ever connected with somone in a way that changes their lives will like the movie too.

Also, for those who said nothing happened... EVERYTHING HAPPENED. Both characters evolve so much throughout the movie as they examine themselves, where they are in life, where they are going, and both realize how unhappy they are in their current situations. There is something magical, IMO, about the connection they have. There is also a certain degree of beauty in the fact they connect with each other on such a deep level, but leave it only as a connection - they don't run off and have an affair or anything like that.

The movie was all about human emotions and questioning your situation, particularly one that you are unhappy with. If you've ever been very depressed I think this movie rings especially true....

agreed. Also the two main characters realize that they have this connection, but there is no way that they can do anything about this. It kind of also shows something that you dear so much, but yet you cant do anything about it since both of them are married.

what did you want? bill murray and scarlett to go back to hotel room and fvck? some movies are better off leaving you wondering what happened...kinda like before sunrise...and then its sequel..10 yrs later....

its not your typical hollywood film where everything gets all peachy keen at the end...and thats what makes it enjoyable.

the movie DID have an ending.. but its up to the viewer's mind to think what the ending was..

SPOILER ALERT

at the end bill murray whispered something to scarlett, then she smiled. I personally think Bill said something in terms of "I really appreciate your friendship" or something like that...

They both realize that they cant do anything to be together.. since both of them have a totally separate life.

So he probably whispered any of the following:

"This movie fvcking blows, I can't believe I agreed to this."
"You have big bewbies"
"Lip my stocking"

I think it is one of the better movies I've seen. I also lived in Japan for a long time (although I can speak, read, and write Japanese), so perhaps I can better associate with some of the movie.

I realize the pace may be a bit 'slow', but it isn't a freaking action movie. ;)

Where is the plot going? It just seems aimless and the relationship development is stagnant and overdragged...

I have about 30 mins left, Scarlett Johasson is aimlessly walking around temple...

oh and try not to watch movies windowed...too many distractions...if you pay attention to the damn movie you'd enjoy it so much more...really...

and i dont really remmeber the movie getting slow tbh...the music really helps to move the movie along and sets a great tone overall...

I watched it for a while and was bored silly - it seemed to have no point, so I turned it off.
If it wasn't a rental, I would have thrown it across the room and then stuck it in the microwave and watched it sparkle (would have been a better viewing than the movie).

but, alas, it was a rental, so I returned it. That's a couple bucks I'll never see again.

Let's start a class action suit against Bill Murray for our money back and mental stress damages.

i thought the movie was overrated. maybe i was disappointed because it had been hyped so much as a great movie.

I enjoyed the film mainly because a) I live in Japan, and b) the cinematography was incredible, especially the outdoor shots. The story was a wash, neither exceptional nor awful. Acting was good though, good casting for everyone.

yeah it's slow. It also seems like it's one of those movies that people either really like or absolutely hate

Yeah, I also feel like it's one of those movies that needs to be watched in the theaters because it is slow but it's also amazing. Being at home provides too many distractions.

I watched it at home and I loved it. One of my favorite directors is a Taiwanese director named Tsai Ming Liang, but if you didn't like Lost in Translation, then you'll hate Tsai's movies 10 times more.
