Did you ever watch Alias (also a J.J. Abrams show)? I haven't seen it until this season, but I've got a friend who's a huge fan. He says that it's quite common for Abrams to bring up a plot device, then just drop it for several episodes. We probably won't find anything out about the door this season I'm afraid.
No, I haven't had the opportunity to get involved with Alias... I have too many other shows that I'm obsessing over.

This is similar to Sopranos following a storyline in one episode then have it compeltely dropped for the remainder of the season, very frustrating to all us loyal fans.

when they showed the kid with the polar bear in the comic book...I knew he was the one causing all the werid stuff...

although .... why don't they just have the kid imagine a raft?

Also, does the dad have pictures of his mom? what if the kid saw them?
i refuse to believe that the kid is behind this all and that he has some kind of psychic ability..... they were HUGELY hinting at the fact that he conjured the polar bear, however, ominously showing the comic book page about 4,000 times and playing creepy music when it was burning in the fire.

I'm still waiting for Hurley's (fat kid) story!!!! I wonder if they get into why he is so fat and if there's something more to it than just overeating.

Anywho.... Kate looks better and better with each episode... she truly has a kicking body.

Anyone know how many more episodes are left in the season? They seem to be running out of time for things to get wrapped up. They've been on that island a loooooooooong time.

I have all the episodes Tivo'd and it really hasn't been that long I've rewatched them again and alot of it is flashbacks.

I havent been watching much, but the three episodes I've seen... they all seem to be "whats in the box?!" and "what's their secret?!"...
are they all like that? oh, and wtf are polar bears doing on a tropical island?

In a prior episode, they've alluded to being on the island for weeks, and as time keeps passign I can only assume it has been a few more weeks. That's a long time for people to not be as mental as i would expect after being on a deserted island for so long

I think they need to progress the story along to where we know what the threat of those other people (at least that "ethan" punk) on the island pose and how the plane crash survivors are going to deal with it

I wonder how they are inevitable going to be rescued 😕

Summary of Comic Book Walt was reading

Producer Quote:
"The comic is actually a Spanish translation of "Green Lantern/Flash: Faster Friends," Part 1 which chronicles the superheroes attack on an alien that turns out to be peaceful. Says Abrams, "We definitely chose that story for a reason.""

Interesting indeed.... where did you get the producer quote?

Oh, also-- do you think it's significant that Claire's baby's father was a painter too? Michael was a painter ("I'll stop painting for a while...") and it seems his son has powers. Claire's baby's father was a painter and she was warned by the psychic about her baby's powers.

Why the repeat next week? Goddamn that's frustrating
They have to stretch out 22 episodes over a television season. 24 and Alias started in January while Lost started in September. The former 2 are running straight through without repeats.

So if last episode was Episode 14 and a typical season of a full-length season is 22-24 episodes.... we still have a lot more episodes to look forward to

Next ep should get to the backstory of the final person (Hurley) and then maybe they can finally get to some of the questions they started.

What will Claire tell them?
Will they ask quesitons as to the attack of the damn polar bear?
Will they get into that hatch?
Will they find the "black rock" and will it have meaning?
Does the French broad have any more signifigance?
Will Kate swim in any other lakes (please please please)?

and by the way... is Boone basically a Locke-controlled robot now? He isn't reacting to Sharon anymore, is defending Locke both verbally and physically and is walking around with this generally "removed" aura about him.

thoughts?

what puzzles me the most is that Locke seems to have accepted everything that is happening around him and nothing will surprise him. He's just a by-chance traveller to this island like everyone else.

What had he seen when he was attacked by a monster while hunting boar way at the beginning. All he said was that he saw into the heart of this island, and it was beautiful. Maybe it's not really Locke anymore.

i'm sure this has been said before, but it seems like Locke doesnt want to leave.
he has the use of his legs.
he feels needed.
people respect him.

all this could be gone if they leave the island.

doesnt' explain how he's not surprised at the polar bear... it's the first time he had seen it (supposedly). The expression on his face during the attack was like... just another day's work.

I think its just meant to show that nothing is going to surprise him on this island. He adjusted much faster than everyone else. I attribute this to the fact that he knew something was up immediately after the crash as he was suddenly able to use his legs again.

I agree with this.

So everything happening on the island is because the kid was thinking about it and it became real... Why don't they just rename the show Sphere 2?

that's just what we were being led to believe in that episode. Way back in the beginning people had thoughts that this island is all about people's personal fears (Sayid being captured - a soldier's worst fear, etc.)... it could be something along those lines still... but it's not as simple as 1 kid dreaming it all up. I have more faith in the writers than that. Besides, the other people on the island - Ethan and Brousseau also have something to do with it... experiments perhaps. Try the Island of Dr. Moreau.

I think Locke is evil. He has slowly gained the trust of everyone. Charlie even said, in episode 13, that he would trust his life in the hands of Locke. Also, the reason Sayid and Jack gave as to why Locke no longer bringing back the boar is pretty convincing.

I don't buy it. I'm thinking that there really is no "evil" force at all. That the explanation of why Ethan needed Claire and what's going on with the the "black rock" will prove to be soemthing opposite of just an "evil force"

So you're buying into the whole island mirroring the comic book concept?
