It they could duplicate the quality of the church textures elsewhere, and add some kind of mapping (parallex) that would not make close up textures look pixelated, they'd have a game that would almost be like walking around in a photograph.

The church was pretty impressive, as were the ocean, boat and fisherman elements.

I think DOD S actually looks better than the other parts of LC though

when I first looked at the beach. my jaw basically dropped. I never really experenced full kickin HDR (DOD:S doesent really count as it is used, but not as much as lost coast). That beach scene just blew me away, period.

Finally. Very very impressive. Ran well on my 6800GT . . . can't test it on my X800XL yet but I can only assume it will be a bit faster . . .

Lol, they're saying my A64 @ 2.2Ghz does not meet the minimum requirements. The minimum is a P4 3.2Ghz :disgust: I know it works, I just think it's stupid for them to say that.
Anyway, I'll try the map tomorrow.

Hell yea, especially when you go the opposite way from the fisherman... phew... very very impressive

I agree the beach scene is unbelievable, a new level of graphical quality. I wish a full game of this caliber would come out. ES Oblivion might look similarly good though

Ugh only getting 40KB/s from Steam , Guess ill have to check it out in the morning. Curious how it runs on my new rig 🙂

Unfortunately for me, a new update made steam go haywire. I had to uninstall it and now I have to download everything all over again using a crappy connection. Thank you Valve. At least your updates are predictable.

Wow. I just played for a few minutes and the graphics are unbelieveable. The HDR is done really well. It runs pretty slowly on my 6800GT@Ultra (I'm running at 1680x1050 2xAA/4xAF 😛), but I don't care...it's worth it. 🙂

I am slightly concerned that I saw my load temps at 90°C though. :Q

The graphic detail was unbelievable. Kudos to Valve. Unfortunately, my system chugged down into the 20's a lot during gameplay. Run at 1920x1200 4AA/8AF Full HDR. I guess it's time for a system upgrade.😉

SLi?

Wow that was short n' sweet but the performance was wierd, I only ran it at 1280x800 (16:10) but for some reason the framerate was randomly stuttering even with FSAA and vsync disabled. Other games such as FEAR run flawless so not sure if its just an HDR thing or something im overlooking. Running the latest official drivers from nvidia.com.

I made a thread about it on the Steam forums.

I was sure it needed SM 3.0, but to my surprise it didn't. Bah, I know, it was a known fact huh ? Well I wasn't around following the news for a good period of time in terms of PC gaming. So meh...

I still tried it on my "lesser" system, and man it surprised me. I thought I couldn't run it at more than 5 to 10 f-p-s, but it hit more then 30 in some places, even during firefights. I was even able to use some Anisotropic-Filtering, how nice s'that ?

Gotta love that good ol' 9800 Pro !

🙂

I thought it would be better.. But still pretty damn good.. Goes to show how well that game scales..

1680x1050
Full HDR (* setting )
2xAA
2xAF

Everyhing on high

Avg. 45fps..

dipped to the LOW 30's inside of the church...

Heh, it told me I didn't meet the specs to run the game, because I've got a Geforce 6200. Unlocked and overclocked, it runs DoD:S great @ 10x7 w/AF, so I hope I'll be fine with the same settings. Downloading now.

It ran at about 25fps with my card @ 400/680. Once I went into the church, it dipped down to 20fps. This was all at 10x7. Honestly, I'm not sure what some of you are impressed about. I've been playing DoD:Source since that has been released, so nothing in Lost Coast seemed unique or outstanding to me.
