that might've been the most boring episode of Lost I've ever seen. Echo is the only one out of that whole group of people who has personality. The rodriguez girl is trying to do the 'tough leader' thing and she just can't act...bleeeech. I think Boston Legal is quickly eclipsing Lost as my favorite show with the subpar episodes Lost has had the last couple weeks. Although last weeks wasn't hideous....last nights was just horrible.
Did you watch the same episode the rest of us did?

they could've EASILY pared that down to about 15 minutes. There was no need for a whole episode there. It was almost the exact same thing as what happened to the other castaways.

crash ----> lives saved ----> weird things in jungl e-----> discover infiltrator -----> move off beach. I just thought the acting was bland, and nothing really happened on the episode. Just bad acting, and bad repetitive scripting. I watched it with some friends a couple of whom had never seen Lost before. No one else liked the episode, and the people who hadn't seen the show before dont' want to watch it again. It was like the blair witch project 'nothing's happenign......nothign's happening....nothing's happening'

I dunno, to each their own, but honestly it seems like the fanboism for this show is starting to run rampant. Plot lines get dropped, stuff never gets explained, and it's already getting reptitive.

So why didn't the Tail-enders hear the whisper's till they were to the other side of the island?

When the others came to attack them, they just went all out and force. No whispers, no freakyness. no nothing. Is it a 2nd set of weirdo's on the other side of the island that whisper and can't be seen?

That's what I thought. Like I said in last weeks thread, I thought the crazy French lady mentioned The Others and separately, The Whisperers. Also, when Jin and Echo saw The Others as they walked past two weeks ago, there was silence.

Also, if Walt was really there last episode and showed up at the time of the whispering and clearly wasn't upset, perhaps he was in the care of The Whisperers who might be an opposing force to The Others and rescued him from The Others.

plot lines aren't "dropped". i, for one, enjoy the mystery that is slow to unfold. i don't get why everything needs to be explained so quickly for some people. i assume these are the same people who dislike slow-paced movies and books.

this is definitely not a series you can jump into the middle and expect to be satisfied.

if the entire story of the tailies was condensed to 15 minutes, it would have been horrible. it felt rushed, as is.

interesting.

could the whispers have something to do with the children? like how Walt tried to warn the castaways, maybe the whispers were warning them of the Others or impending danger.

OK no one has mentioned

People that dont like Lost are just results of the ADD generation. Clues here and there, revealing a little at a time.... Beautiful.

I wonder if those people also prefer masterbation to sex, simply because they get the results without all that 'pesky' work.

i so want to read this thread but I can't because I was playing my xbox360 last night instead of watching LOST lol. i'll check in tonight after i watch it.

Perhaps the whisperers are those who have been taken by the others.

I think that the whispers were there for a purpose though. Walt lead Shannon to the tailies, the whispers freaked the tailies out, shannon got shot.

Another question, does anyone remember if any of the tailies have been seen in backstories? Besides Ana Lucia, of course.

hrrrm. I don't recall the french lady calling them the Whisperers. I thought she just heard Whispers. Hrrm. I think they are 2 diff. groups, or something.

Like you said, when Jin and Echo saw the feet, no whispers.

And also the "others" sure don't seem quite to me, the ones on the beach ran and punched and fought and were loud and fast, but nothing like when Cindy got taken, the whispers and shh wham, she's gone?

the flight attendant was one of tailies. i can't remember her name. she's the one who wear a headband-type thing. she was the one who served Jack on the plane.

This was the first time I watched Lost...and all I can say is "Holy Crap" this show rocks!

But I have a question:

I understand that there are two groups of people from the same crash on the island. Why were they killing each other? Why not get both groups together to try to get the heck off the island? Maybe I would have a greater understanding if I watched previous episodes, but there seems to be zero motive to "kidnapping" people from one group.

I know this makes better "television" but it's also far-fetched.

they crashed on separate parts of the island and the "tailies" (last night's episode) were trying to meet up with the rest of the survivors. (tailies because they were mostly in the back of the plane.)

they're not killing each other - i think ana lucia got startled, thought the person was another member of the others, and shot them.

kidnapping isn't done by the survivors, but by the people that were already on the island. or that's what we think anyways.

see if you can get season 1, to try to catch up. you missed a lot in season 1.

From the spoiler post:

I think that [the] question [as to what the numbers mean] will never, ever be answered. I couldn't possibly imagine [how we would answer that question].

If you can't / won't explain it, why even bring it up???

it has nothign to do with that. I'm willing to give a show time, but it's partway through the 2nd season and there's still a ton of stuff from the first they haven't even touched in 15 episodes...it just seems like they're putting random stuff on the island just for the sake of it. The plot's feeling stilted at this point. Nice assumption about people that don't like the show as well. Blame it on ADD like you have any clue what you're talking about, moron.

F*ck off, you bragging bastard.

Two things on Mr. Eko:
1. He was carving something into his stick, but the camera doesn't give you a clear view of what. Looked like words.
2. He talked after 40 days. Christian significance? Give up something for 40 days such as right before Easter. Also in the bunker he carefully looked over the Bible.

Given his accent and adeptness at fighting, I'd say probably the dialect of some civil war torn African nation.

You mean Lent. Yeah, might explain why he didn't eat the chicken.

Also, remember that the pilots of that drug running plan were Nigerian and they hid the drugs in the Catholic statuettes.

Hmm. Good thought about Lent. Hadn't crossed me mind. Makes some sense.

Did think it was odd that he seemed a bit enthralled by the bible. Just wasn't sure what to make of it.
