This was the first time I watched Lost...and all I can say is "Holy Crap" this show rocks!

But I have a question:

I understand that there are two groups of people from the same crash on the island. Why were they killing each other? Why not get both groups together to try to get the heck off the island? Maybe I would have a greater understanding if I watched previous episodes, but there seems to be zero motive to "kidnapping" people from one group.

I know this makes better "television" but it's also far-fetched.

they crashed on separate parts of the island and the "tailies" (last night's episode) were trying to meet up with the rest of the survivors. (tailies because they were mostly in the back of the plane.)

they're not killing each other - i think ana lucia got startled, thought the person was another member of the others, and shot them.

kidnapping isn't done by the survivors, but by the people that were already on the island. or that's what we think anyways.

see if you can get season 1, to try to catch up. you missed a lot in season 1.

Thanks!

I'll have to rent Season 1 and go from there.

Looks like Maggie Grace might be doing XMEN3 :

Did it bug you that Maggie Grace's people leaked that tidbit about her possibly joining the cast of X-Men 3 over the summer? It was a pretty major tip-off that she might be leaving the show.

Carlton: There's no incentive for them to preserve the creative sanctity of Lost.
You have an agency full of people whose job it is to get Maggie Grace other work. And how could we begrudge her that? We can't prevent her from going out and earning a livelihood, you know?

I'm thinking Eko has some sort of connection to the Nigerian Priests who were doing the drug smuggling. Now that I think about it, it seems as if he recognized the bible and the glass eye they found in the bunker. The more I think about it the more of an enigma this guy becomes.

Also, anyone get a good look at the tatoo on his shoulder?

Thought it was an excellent episode.

Didn't Sawyer say that the gun that Ana Lucia took from him only had one bullet? So she used it to kill Shannon (which I do believe was an accident, since they just lost Cindy and she was freaked out, so you get this dumb broad running through the woods and gets popped) but then in the previews for next week's episode she uses it again to shoot Sayid. I couldn't imagine her getting any additional ammo from Jack and crew, Sawyer maybe lied about the one bullet?

And AL isn't too bad. She's badass as fvck, she definitely wants to get it on with Sawyer (arm or no arm lol). It was very tense with her and Goodwin and the knife. So we know she can take on larger men one-on-one with no weapons... she must have some sort of training. She seemed like a military type, especialy when she identified the knife, but could maybe just be Sawyer/criminal-type too.

that might've been the most boring episode of Lost I've ever seen. Echo is the only one out of that whole group of people who has personality. The rodriguez girl is trying to do the 'tough leader' thing and she just can't act...bleeeech. I think Boston Legal is quickly eclipsing Lost as my favorite show with the subpar episodes Lost has had the last couple weeks. Although last weeks wasn't hideous....last nights was just horrible.
Did you watch the same episode the rest of us did?

they could've EASILY pared that down to about 15 minutes. There was no need for a whole episode there. It was almost the exact same thing as what happened to the other castaways.

crash ----> lives saved ----> weird things in jungl e-----> discover infiltrator -----> move off beach. I just thought the acting was bland, and nothing really happened on the episode. Just bad acting, and bad repetitive scripting. I watched it with some friends a couple of whom had never seen Lost before. No one else liked the episode, and the people who hadn't seen the show before dont' want to watch it again. It was like the blair witch project 'nothing's happenign......nothign's happening....nothing's happening'

I dunno, to each their own, but honestly it seems like the fanboism for this show is starting to run rampant. Plot lines get dropped, stuff never gets explained, and it's already getting reptitive.

If you know anything about story and character development (which I do, see sig), then you would realize the appeal for this show.

****************SPOILER *****************

There are pictures taken by someone on set showing a flashback with AL. She is wearing a police uniform in the pictures so she is a cop, possibly LAPD. That is the training she has.

Two things on Mr. Eko:
1. He was carving something into his stick, but the camera doesn't give you a clear view of what. Looked like words.

I can make out "I will" but not much else. Maybe "Lord"?
Looks like the letter F after Lord. Maybe Lord Forgive Me ??

If it's an F and not an E, then it could be the last line of Psalms 23 which states "I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever".

But I'm going to take a look at it on Tivo tonight to see if I can get a better look.

if Mr. Eko is religious that would explain his desire to follow Jin when he wanted to help his friend. Mr. Eko would respect the loyalty that Jin showed over the cut-throat Ana.

Whatever the stick may say it is obvious that Eko is guilty about killing two of the others...even if it was in self-defense.

People that dont like Lost are just results of the ADD generation. Clues here and there, revealing a little at a time.... Beautiful.

I wonder if those people also prefer masterbation to sex, simply because they get the results without all that 'pesky' work.

it has nothign to do with that. I'm willing to give a show time, but it's partway through the 2nd season and there's still a ton of stuff from the first they haven't even touched in 15 episodes...it just seems like they're putting random stuff on the island just for the sake of it. The plot's feeling stilted at this point. Nice assumption about people that don't like the show as well. Blame it on ADD like you have any clue what you're talking about, moron.

Wow, I was just joking around, but apparently hit a nerve!

I don't think so. Like I said, I think he comes from a very violent past and these events are reminding him of them. He's obviously a badass, but he also has a zen side which might account for the religeon.

Wow... very very interesting, I think this is very possible.

Go back and watch the episode again. Pay attention to who Eko is dragging out of the water. One of the bodies looks just like Jack's father and is a bit too stiff to be recently dead. due to the crash. Looks just like Jack's father to me. Then again I may be imagining things.

it would also explain why he wanted to risk heading through the jungle to get sawyer to the other group asap.

It has been talked about before, and it was done intentionally by the creators of the show.

It probably is, since remember Jack was flying his father's corpse back to the states. And in a previous season 1 episode, he found the coffin, but no body inside which would suggest it fell out during the crash.

Yep. That's what I was thinking. Giving Jack and Eko a connection of sorts since everyone else seems to be connected in some way.
