Though I never ate much in the way of sweets, I cut out soda's over 2 years ago but last year must have indulged a bit too much in fried foods or something. Got up to 204lbs and at 5'9", age 39, doc told me I was now a member of the obese club.😱

Normally for the work week, I would have a cold cut sandwich and chips for lunch, breakfast was either nothing or something from the quick mart...that's basically how I ate for work for many, many years, weight gain was very gradual up until about last year i jumped from 175 to 198 pretty quick and next doctor visit was at 204, probably an age thing. Usually my motto was if I gain 10lbs, I diet till I lose that and start over but didn't seem to work this time. figured my change in diet should be gradual if I'm to do a more long term solution.

So a month ago, during the work week only, I replaced breakfast and lunch with nutrition shakes I get from Walmart. I also threw away my deep fryer and replaced it with an Air fryer for things like frozen chicken nuggets..etc that I might make for a quick dinner or whatever (get home late a lot). That's basically all I did and lost 11 lbs so far:thumbs:
Btw, the air fryer is fantastic. Food comes out exactly as if I had deep fried it, crispy and tender on the inside, best investment I made this year, highly recommend one.

I think cutting out the bread and chips for that 5 days each week did more than anything else and the nutrition shakes do a real good job of making me feel full for about 4 hours. It's a small change in diet and seems to be working for me well so far so thought I'd share it.

Good job, but I would say you still have room to improve 🙂

If you regularly get home late a lot, just have better food prepared ahead of time that you can reheat. Good planning helps conquer a lot of unforeseen scheduling items. Especially in this case where you're aware it will happen frequently.

In those cases, that's where I recommend drinks such as Soylent, Joylent, Ketolent, etc... They're all good meal replacements with definite benefits.

Good job, OP.

this is when crock pot is your friend. you can cook it while you're at work if you want. or just toss something on the grill it takes like 10 minutes total to heat up a gas grill and cook some protein, and cook some veggies while that cooks.

OP i'd recommend exercising to speed up your metabolism. your pre-diet meal plan for lunch/breakfast does NOT sound like a lot of calories at all and if you were gaining weight with that then your metabolism must be at a crawl (although you didnt mention what you ate for dinner).

i'm 5'11 about 203lbs (not fat at all just athletic build) and when i am cutting weight i eat a shake for breakfast then 2 sandwiches during the day for lunch. that's when i'm losing weight. granted i do work out 4 days a week for an hour, but that is part of the reason my metabolism is higher too.

those nuggets you are eating are not "good" for you as you think they are. good you are losing weight but as mentioned, you could definitely still clean it up a lot. from your explanation it actually sounds like you're basically starving yourself so it's not surprising you are losing weight. 2 shakes + some chicken nuggets for a day's worth of meals is not enough.
