Two things:

Bad ending day, Thurs evenings and Sunday afternoons/evenings are better

Invest in a $5 bottle of Brasso and polish the iPods (yes, Brasso, the brass polishing compound, works wonders on both sides of the iPod, google it) to make them look better.

You should calculate your per hour costs, if you aren't making at least $20/hr profit then it's time to rethink your business.

I've never looked, can you (fairly easilly) replace HDD in IPOD's with anysize (40GB for example) Laptop drive? Disassamble casing + plus firmware or something?

Reserve, always use reserve. Or get a distant relation to bid it up in desperate situations like this. On the other hand, since you do this a lot, just consider the profit over the average sale. Businesses are made on the averages, not the individual deal.

Considering I bought the thing for $66 plus spent roughly $15 on parts, lets just say this wasn't a really good profit margin on this item :(

I know, I should have put a reserve or a higher starting price, I just didn't think it'd go so low. Hell you can't even buy the hard drive that's in it for that price probably :(

The thing that kills me is the average selling price for this item according to ebay is $174... ufta... I should have just kept the damn thing

you didn't loose any money. Just didn't make as much as you would like

I always wondered about doing that, does it actually work?

Yeah, unless they watch their feedback like a hawk and notice the negative before the end of the 89th day.

so is that the 89th day of when the auction ended? and is it to the day or the hour of the auction?
