Edited really just means pan & scan, where they shift the image from side to side of the letterbox to get the important parts of the scenes. That's so important stuff at the edge of the screen doesn't get lost if they just center the TV-sized image on the letterbox.

"For those without a local CostCo, you can get it from DeepDiscountDVD.com for $57.55 shipped ground. Includes the Argonath bookends."

Wait i don't understand why you would buy them from there when you can buy it from costco.com for 55 plus free movie ticket."For those without a local CostCo, you can get it from DeepDiscountDVD.com for $57.55 shipped ground. Includes the Argonath bookends."

Well, it is now $49.89 at DDD, with no shipping charge and no tax in CA. The savings equal at least a movie ticket...

Best Buy will have the 4 disc version for 25, 5 disc for 50, and they ALL should come with the free ticket for the two towers

I am going for the 4 disc since the national geographic dvd is uddercrap unless you're kami..or other tolkien freak...but it is B O R I N G...I plan to pm to cc $29 and getting it cheaper than $25 since you get 110%

I don't know about any theatre, but I would almost gaurentee you have atleast one affiliated moviehouse in your town...

I checked this morning. BB wanted $29.99 for the 40-disc (same as TRU and CC), and $59.99 for the collectors set. CostCo B&M wanted $25.49 for the 4-disc and didn't have the collectors set out yet (either not in stock or just not on display yet). I want the 5-disc collectors... so I'm tempted to buy at BB and pricematch when I find it cheaper later... but I'd rather get it for $50 from CostCo BM later this week.... anyway, have my $9.99 ATOC DVD to watch for now.

Wrong, just came from Best Buy. The regular EE FotR is only $24.99 while the collector's is $49.99. The movie tickets come INSIDE the box, so they will all come with one no matter where you pick it up at.

Barnes and Noble has a "40%" off sale going on. The LOTR DVD gift box is $47.98

Add something to go over $50 and use the $5 off $50 coupon. Also, a second item qualifies you for free shipping!

So, I just bought that box set & The Hobbit paperback for $47.77 shipped! Get on it!

(from FW):- For those of you who got in on the BlockBuster LOTR 10-week rental card deal, exchange the original version you received for the 4-cd version and make up the difference with cash. Just got home from doing this and they charged me $7 for the difference... YMMV so GL!

Just got the 4-Disc Extended Version from Costco two days ago for 25.49 plus TAX.

A ticket for the next Lord of the Rings Movie: Two Towers is included in each package. I think all you need to do is bring it to the movie theater on the day that you wish to purchase the ticket, it's the movie theaters obligation to mail it in for their rebate.

The ticket is good up to a value of $10.50 and good for any ticket between dated (12/18/02 and 12/31/02); included on it is a list of theater chains that it is good at.

List includes a lot of chains, but AMC is not on it.

Hope that helps.

I just bought LOTR Fellowship of the ring Platinum extended edition (4 disk set) on DVD at amazon.com ($24.99)

If anyone wants a share the love 10% discount send me an email. Share the love discount expires on 1/3/03.
Do not PM me as I always forget to check it.

It does work at AMCs, I used mine at Puente Hills 20 AMC in City of Industry, CA.
