Now i know this doesn't release until November 12th but i'd thought i'd mention this deal to everyone because it's the cheapest i've found it

Costco.com is the place that is selling it for that price. That link will take you directly to the product. It also comes with a free ticket to the 2nd movie "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." It's like 55$ with shipping you can most likely find it a little place where you can pre-order it at your local costco as well.

edit: I didn't notice this till now but costco.com also has the lower edition set for 25.49 + 3.98 shipping plus it also has a free movie ticket. This set is basically the regular version of the movie with the 30 mins extra footage.

look!

edit2: Well.. i found out that Amazon.com also has this movie with the ticket and it's 25.99 with free ticket so that might just be a better solution you can check it out here

well you could cancel your pre-order and get this instead. This version has everything that the 4 disc version has plus a few extras.

I'm thinking Best Buy will have it for 50 bucks when it comes out and I want to get it THE DAY it comes out

plus I don't have a Costco here

what if you aren't a member??? can you just walk in and buy that one item w/o a membership card?

if not, i guess i could go there and ask someone in line to add it to their cart and ill pay them $55 or wutever for it 🙂

That's a pretty good deal, especially if you factor in $7-9 ticket that you know you're going to buy anyway. Two Towers, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions, The Return of the King.... it's going to be a very good year.

Well if you aren't a member at costco then no you won't be able to buy it at least i don't think so. There may be like a temporary pass?

I almost 100% sure you don't need it online though.

This is the R rated version. It has longer cuts in the fights scences, making it more vicious and violent, hence the R rating. But I am not sure if it got the official "R" rating or if it is just unrated.

The Extended Edition is rated PG-13.

There is no R-Rated version coming out. It was thought that the Extended Edition might get an R rating due to increased violence, but it got a PG-13.

This is the be-all, end-all edition. Basically both this 5 disc Gift Set and 4 disc Extended Edition are the same thing. The Gift Set just comes with a National Geographic Doccumentary, some playing cards and 2 statue bookends. I'm just going to get the 4 disc set since it's about half the price, but if you really want this Gift Set, it's a pretty nice price.

Two years from now, you'll have to spend $100 on the complete "extended edition" trilogy.🙂

"For those without a local CostCo, you can get it from DeepDiscountDVD.com for $57.55 shipped ground. Includes the Argonath bookends."

Wait i don't understand why you would buy them from there when you can buy it from costco.com for 55 plus free movie ticket.

The rating is PG13, just like the theatrical cut.

I need a little precision:

is the version 4-DVD [not the collector]
1 of: The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Platinum Series Extended Edition) [DVD]
By: Elijah Wood (Primary Contributor) ??? this is weird too...
$25.99

the widescreen edition? or is it an edited tv-screen edition [I don't know the exact term for this, sorry].

It seems that on Amazon.uk they sell the same thing, and they precise that is is the widescreen edition
link to amazon.uk description

I just did a one-click order on Amazon.com and I am not a bit anxious about it...

By the way does the edited [=not widescreen] edition good? it may even be better if it is edited correctly? [not sure about that, though]

Thanks

Olivier.
