So, if you trust them. :)
The article says the movie will be about Bond's college days. Technically then Bloom will be playing the "old" James Bond. :p

If it's really about the young James Bond I think Orlando Bloom is a good fit. Definitely suave, certainly can charm the ladies, and no stranger to action. Hell, I was imagining Bloom being in the running for the role 20 years from now anyway. Now he's just there sooner.

The only question is whether or not the movie's story will suck. It could wind up pretty bad if they aren't careful.

Orlando Bloom I think has talent as an actor, but I can't really see him filling that role...

I think that article is wrong anyway, since MGM owns Bond, not Miramax.

Yeah, that would suck. He's not manly enough.

what about Jason Statham?

I like Jason Statham, but since he's bald as a cue ball I think he's out of the running.

Jason Statham has the HOTTEST accent. as much as i'd love to see him as bond it wouldn't fly because of the transporter. (boooooooooooooo.)

i've hear clive owen but fans want hugh jackman. (well... female ones. hehe.)

He's the only actor that looks like Bond in my mind.

probably b/c you saw a Brosnan Bonds first, My first Bond film was "Licence to kill" so when I picture Bond i usually think of Dalton (which is too bad)

No..I think Brosnan was a perfect Bond too. He has the exact look. Best Bond since Connery IMHO. My first Bond movie was Moonraker :)

can't believe nobody noyiced this.

England-based Eon Productions, which produces the Bond flicks, must find another star to carry 007's Walther PPK in the 21st Bond movie, scheduled for release next year.

bond moved up to a walther p-99 a movie or two back

I was reading a bit about this on Fark. From the discussion on there, it seems that this Orlando Bloom as a young Bond is just a bad old rumor (India Times you say?) and according to that superfreak at Ain't It Cool News, Eric Bana will be getting the nod as the new Bond. I don't know how valid any of this info is, but personally I'd like to see an unknown in the role. Obviously Connery was the best Bond, but frankly the only bad Bond was the quickly replaced Lazenby. Brosnan did a find job with his little run as Bond, and hopefully the next one will be up to the challenge.

In an interview on the magazine's Web site, posted Tuesday, the Irish-born actor said 2002's "Die Another Day" was his last mission on her majesty's secret service.

Clive owen's on the list of next would-be bonds. IMO, he's largely underrated as an actor.
Jude Law and Ewan McGregor are good, too... except ewans a scot :p

...

SEAN CONNERY. The best bond EVER. Is a Scot.

Sean was my favorite Bond.

Brosnan was the next best. They should have pursued him more instead of Dalton.
When I first saw Brosnan in Remington Steel I thought, "Now he could be James Bond."

If they pick someone like Hugh Grant, well, that will be the FIRST Bond film I don't see.
