I'm really disappointed - I was hoping that MNS would hit one out of the park. I liked most of his previous movies.

i don't even understand what the movie is about...the commercials suck.

Its supposed to be a bedtime story.

So what you're saying is that the movie is so boring you fall asleep during it?

I dont think half the people can comprehend his level of story telling, therefor he apparently sucks.

You mean reusing the same terrible plot device and completely obvious pseudo-symbolism for every single movie he makes isn't working anymore? What a shocker.

Heh from one of the reviewers, regarding the directors cameo:

"Watching a skilled acting craftsman like Paul Giamatti delivering lines to Shyamalan is like watching Robert Duvall talk to his cat about politics. It?s the one thing in the movie that sent shivers down my spine."

MNS is an amazing director but a terrible writer. His movies are beautiful to look at, and he has a good sense of timing for suspense, but you can keep using twist endings in every movie and expect people to think it's clever. I do think he has the potential to make a great movie if he either uses someone else's material, or branches out in his writing style.

That being said I probably will still see this movie in the theater, but my expectations won't be very high.

Yes, surely that's it. It must be that he has transcended traditional storytelling, and you are one of the fortunate few to "get it." It must be fantastic to be you, and be able to reap such delightful enjoyment, the likes of which we simple-minded plebes will never be able to aspire to. Bravo, I say, bravo to you.

This is a cross between What Lies Benieth (the lady actually in the water) and The Ring (the ugle chick) right?

I think the problem is his plots are so predictable. You know a huge twist is coming right before the last 5min so instead of getting into the story and being super suprised you just wait for the twist for it to all make sense.
