Pence is an idiot and I have to personally thank Trump - you saved Indiana from the possibility of another 4 years of "service" from this idiot.

Pence is known as "Governor Dense" or "Governor Empty Suit" in Indiana and for good reason. The guy is a horrible governor who is still riding the coat tails of one of our best governors (Mitch Daniels). He's a far-right religious wacko who endorsed Cruz and was probably going to be booted from office in November. Even if Trump were to win, there is no way Pence will ever become President.

I can't tell you how happy we Hoosiers are that Pence is gone! A minor correction - Pence is gone regardless of whether Trump wins or not. Under Indiana law, he had until 7/15 to decide which office to run for - governor or VP - in the fall election. He can't run for both and to be honest, there was a very good chance he was going to lose his re-election bid for Governor in November and even Republicans here wanted him gone.

I moved to Florida from Indiana in 1990, so I do not know a lot about Pence.

It sounds like Dan Quail 2.0 is confirmed.

  • Pro-establisment
  • Pro-free trade
  • Pro-big money in politics
  • Anti-Muslim ban
  • Rabidly Anti-LGBT
  • Does not believe in evolution
  • Does not believe in climate change
  • Leading the charge against Planned Parenthood

good luck with all that... I don't see how Trump supporters could get behind half that list. being anti-free trade was pretty much the central point to Trump's entire run.

Why can't Mitch Daniels be President? Did I miss some secret Asshole Amendment ratification?

Haha from this day forward I'll always see that.
Any bets Trump had to be coaxed into putting Pence on the logo?

One comment I read was pretty good:

'TP used to stand for toilet paper. Now it stands for a totally different asswipe'.

Daniels took himself out of the VP pool a couple months ago and said he didn't want the offer (see also: every single other major Republican)

Didn't want to run. He is president of my alma mater (Purdue) currently.

Mitch isn't perfect, but he is head and shoulders above every candidate running this year, contrary to the bleating of the resident idiot earlier in this thread.

I think CNN bluntly described it as a 'T' penetrating a 'P'. I can't see what K1052 posted, but it seems like pretty easy logo to parody.

Being serious I thought it would be possible for Trump to change his mind and choose someone else. Are there any ballot rules that keep him from changing to another guy in September then another in late October?

Pence was on a plane to New York and some of Trump's staff had already leaked the pick to the press. If he tried to reverse himself it would have been an absolute circus, even by Trump standards.

I don't think there's a rule against changing VP nominations, but it's such a poor reflection on your executive ability that it would basically be suicide.

Surprise! Another leak from the Trump staff.

it would become prohibitively hard once Pence is officially confirmed as the VP nominee by the National Convention next week.
