Looking to buy a pellet gun...

Hi, I am a big airsoft player, but no one around me really skirmishes any more. I usually just use my guns for target shooting, but the plastic bb's have minimal range and aren't too accurate. I am thinking of just getting a cheap bb gun for plinking every once in awhile.

I can spend maybe $50 on it. It has to look and feel pretty decent. It definately has to be a repeater. I can't stand loading bb's one at a time. Also, how do bb guns keep the bb in the barrel. In airsoft, we have hopup buckings. Wouldn't the bb just roll out of the barrel? And, how do the bb's feed. Are there magazines or something, because I don't like misfeeds.

The power isn't important. I just need something that can pierce a can. Accuracy is a priority though. The rate of fire also has to be good. Ideally, I want a bolt action, lever pull, or single pump rifle.

Any recommendations? If anybody here could clarify those questions, that would be great. Thanks for the help.

Update:

After much research, I decided on the B3-2. It is a Chinese gun, but it has a lot of potential with some minor tuning. It is very solid; made entirely of wood and steel. The barrel is rifled. They don't fire too smoothly out of the box, but you can make these things insane if you rebuild them. They are really cheap too.

I found a reliable gunsmith who is selling pre-upgraded models for $50 shipped with a tin of pellets. He also refinishes the stock using bedliner. He really makes these guns amazing. A few people tested them who reported over 700fps and quarter sized groupings at 150ft easy. He also deburrs and polishes the internals to make it function silky smooth.

What's the difference. I am clueless about airguns, but I know pretty much everything about airsoft.

theres a magnet to hold the bb when you pull the slide back to load it, last bb gun i had had a chamber behind the barrell you filled, then up ull the slide back and the magnet attracted a bb, and held it in the barrel until you fire

my dad had a bb gun that did something like 900fps (so he said) that he kept around to kill birds or something, i forget why, he just likes buying things mostly
i think he spent closer to 80 or 100 on it though, and maybe fired it...8 times, which is only the tp of the iceberg when it comes to weaponry he doesnt use at all.

Oh, thanks for explaining that. Simple and effective. So, if I get a daisy single pump repeater, I can just use it like a shotgun or do I have to shake it to feed right.

Well pellet guns fire a bit larger ammo usually. Better for simple target practice. I don't believe they have any rapid fire. It just uses compressed air to fire which is compressed when you cock the gun.

But I don't see why anyone would need a rapidfire gun when shooting tin cans.

I used to take crappy soda that I didn't like that for some reason my mom bought once and awhile...I would shake the cans up like mad and then shoot them with my pellet gun and watch em explode. That was fun.

EDIT: Ooops...I read your OP as rapidfire and not repeater. Ignore that part.

I would like to be able to get off 1 shot every 2 seconds maybe. I guess I am just spoiled by airsoft guns which fire either automatic or 3-4 shots every 2 seconds manually. I would get frustrated having to load a pellet each time. However, it would be nice if I could do both. I thought I saw some guns that could do that.

Now, what kind of range are we talking about. I know an airsoft gun shooting 300fps has a range of about 150ft, so what would a bb gun shoot. I'd imagine it to be a bit further since the bb's are a lot heavier. Is there noticeable drop within the first 100ft.

Yes, and it is illegal to take them off. This is so they can be identified as not a real gun by the cops and public (but it is still definately not a good idea to be seen toting it around in your front yard).

My first recommendation is to legally change your name to "Ralphie".

Relax guys, I'll shoot it responsibly. I never had an accident in airsoft and we fired those at each other.
