Looking to buy a pellet gun...

After much research, I decide on the B3-2. It is a Chinese gun, but it has a lot of potential with some minor tuning. It is very solid; made entirely of wood and steel. The barrel is rifled. They don't fire too smoothly out of the box, but you can make these things insane if you rebuild them. They are really cheap too.

I found a reliable gunsmith who is selling pre-upgraded models for $50 shipped with a tin of pellets. He also refinishes the stock using bedliner. He really makes these guns amazing. A few people tested them who reported over 700fps and quarter sized groupings at 150ft easy. He also deburrs and polishes the internals to make it function silky smooth.

That's similar to my first BB gun. It's a 10-pump, but you don't *have* to pump it all the way up every time. Surprisingly powerful at full pressure, though.

The B3-2 is a great gun. I've been using them for years, no upgrades... Just don't even try and shoot BBs out of it--It'll work most of the time, but i've jammed 2 guns that way.

Yeah, I have read a lot of good things about it. It should perform great upgraded. My only worry is that it might be unsafe for a first time user.

I know basic safety. However, I want to be extra cautious because you can lose a finger if you bump the trigger while loading the pellet in the breach.

An air rifle you can pass down to your kids. Like my dad did. Mine was lost and a few years back my wife got me one for fathers day. Very few companies can match the quality and durabilty of a benjamin/sherdian air rifle.

wth is airsoft? You shoot each other w/ plastic pellets? Sounds a lot like paintball w/o the paint

i haven't messed with bb guns in awhile since i started using real guns, but most bb/pellet guns are simple. they may have changed since i last was into them so don't take this as 100% accurate.

most you have to pump to build up air pressure. usually 10 pumps or so gets you the max fps. with these, theres usually a main chamber that you fill with bbs and then there is another smaller chamber that hold the bbs (usually above the "bolt", like a bolt action rifle). you pull the bolt back and the 1st bb in line gets stuck to the bolt by a magnet.

after each shot you have to pump the gun to fire the next bb. works the same way with pellets except pellets you have to load manually, 1 at a time after each shot. there's a possiblity that they may have some that use magazines now.

there are a few that can do the repeating shots but those require Co2 cartridges. you don't usually get many shots out of those. these can get expensive if you shoot a lot.

i believe that there are some that you only have to pump once between each shot but i don't know how powerful they are. probably not very powerful.

i had a pellet pistol that looked like a beretta 92 but used round 8 shot cylinders (like a revolver). the gun opened up and you inserted the cylinder and then closed the gun and shot. it used Co2 cartridges too though.

Mine.

Powerline 1000. Shoots about 1000fps and has a muzzle energy of 17ft/lbs. It's fairly accurate out to 300ft. Past that you'd need a better scope and some sort of bipod (you'd have to make it yourself as this cannot accept a normal one). You can hunt small game with it. Beware that this thing is piston driven and WILL kick

The one I got has a lever underneath the barrel that you pull down to charge the spring. This also opens a breach near the rear sight where you place a pellet. The gun is ready to go once you flip the bolt back in place.
