I like this style. Have you had issues with hotel room keys using this with the magnets? While I don't stay out of town often, I could see this being a potential issue.
I used to have a magnetic slim wallet and it would frequently screw up motel keys (casino membership cards too I think). So I started having to remember to keep them separate, sometimes unsuccessfully.

Wait a minute... wasn't Apple Pay supposed to eliminate the need to carry a wallet around? All of your loyalty cards, metro cards, and bank cards are supposed to be digitized now!

Oh wait... Apple Pay is an unreliable piece of crap. Never mind. I guess that I should get one of those minimalist wallets to tide me over until someone finally perfects the cashless society.

I keep a bulky trifold in my front pocket with my pocket knives. The size is ok, but I'm not thrilled with the location. Hard to adjust. It was in my back pocket for decades, and I have mini panic attacks when I notice it isn't there. It's also harder to get knives out. I tried switching to see if it helped my back. So far, no back issues after a few months, but it's always been sporadic. I could go months at a time without incident, then have it go really wrong :shrugs:

lulz you have multiple knives in the same pocket as your wallet? why not attach the knife to pocket opening and put wallet in opposite with phone? Maybe you should just carry a gun on your hip and a knife in back pocket ;)

i use no wallet or one of those billfold / card holder very slim but the money always ends up wrinkled up. Roll of money with rubber band is also common for me dont need cash much tho

this one is pretty cool. the company makes some interesting products as well https://www.trayvax.com/products/axis?variant=716147982353

I carried that particular one for a while, and eventually gave up on it. When I carried it in my back pocket, the loop that extends out a bit would protrude enough to either wear a hole in my pocket or in the back of my chair. And when I put it in a front pocket, it seemed to always be irritating my legs, even though I don't wear tight pants.

I've been carrying some "minimalist" cloth card-only contraption for the last couple of years. It does the job, but I'm not in love with it. I really want something lightweight, durable, small, and have the ability to hold at least 6 cards (including IDs) and a few bills (definitely USD but preferably also euro).

Who would want to carry a hunk of aluminum around in their pants pocket? Or maybe it's acceptable to the smartphone crowd that carries small computer tablets in those same pockets.

I think we have a winner! I love the look and the ID window is good too! Thanks!
IMO, ID windows are a bad idea. If you frequently need to show your ID (bar crawl?) handing someone your entire wallet isn't a real good idea. Better to have easy access to it and hand them only the ID.

Ive been carrying a magpul daka essential and a money clip when I have cash (most of the time)

Not sure if it’s better than one bigger wallet or not. I typically carry a fair bit of cash for Craigslist, garage sales, etc.

The hole is there so you can use a thumb to easily slide it out.

I've seen bar doormen examine IDs pretty closely with flashlights, examining them up close to see if they'd been altered. Often times still in the wallet.

Yes I can only go my experience in govt buildings - But ya makes sense about the hole. I have to use my card in my work computer every day and I just caught myself using the hole to take it out. Doh! Never thought about it.

Yea, it varies by hotel, but some of them do have issues with it. I got in the habit of tucking room cards into my phone case, which I suspect is probably safer - I have lost a couple wallets in my time, but if I don't have my phone in my pocket I notice very quickly.

My bank has an app that basically turns my phone into my debit/credit cards. It works everywhere my cards work and it's never failed every time I use it.

I never use it because I'm old and I feel weird leaving home without my wallet.

I prefer the magnetic money clip by Alpine Swiss for $10. I'm on my second one...

https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-Swiss-Genuine-Leather-pocket/dp/B004M6UDF0

My requirements are:
  • Money clip
  • 3 card slots or more
  • Plastic ID holder
This fulfilled everything I needed. Just be aware that if you overstuff any leather wallet, the leather will eventually stretch...if you remove cards, they'll start to fall out. Try to maintain the same number of cards in the wallet to limit stretching or card loss in the future. If I have cards I don't carry all the time, I will throw them in the money clip to keep stretching to a minimum.

The first one I got wasn't magnetic. It had a more permanent kind of money clip that functioned/doubled as a clip for your pocket...eventually wore through the leather on the edge of the metal inside. I like the magnetic one....if you're not carrying too many bills, it works great. Last night, I had about 16 bills folded in half and the magnet wasn't strong enough to hold it down. For 5-6 bills it works great.

I made the switch to a front pocket wallet because I have lower back problems and started running in 2015 to prepare for a marathon. When I made the change of not sitting on a brick on one side, it helped my back pain a lot. Alpine Swiss wallets are great quality for the money and they have good customer service. It will be my next wallet if the prices stay low.

I use something very similar except without the ID pocket (we don't do that over here).

How do your bankcards get on with the magnet? Don't you still use the magnetic strip?

The magnet is on the money clip side. I've not had any issues with credit cards losing their magnetism. I DO, however, have issues with hotel keys being wiped out by either my phone or my wallet. So...when Travelling, I usually keep non RFID hotel keys in a separate pocket, or actually put them in the money clip so the stripe is sticking out the side... (since the magnet is in the middle. I truly believe my phone does more to wipe those out than anything.
