Oh yeah, getting an automatic sports car is a waste. I would just get a 4 banger sporty looking car if you're gonna waste it... Hyundai Tiburon?

OK the RX8 (4 seats), 350z (ugly), and mustang (to big) are out. The crossfire i think is heading the same way. The Pontiac and Miata seem to be on top right now. She also seems to understand that she will need to learn how to drive stick if she wants something fun and in her price range.

Anybody heard the new time frame for the Pontiac is to come out? I dont like the current miata compared to the new one. That and the pontiac is cheaper (msrp).

Thanks

Yea but that will be out later then the pontiac. And right now the pontiac has been pushed back from early summer to later summer the last I heard. You/anyone know when the sky or pontiac will be coming?

One option that actually FITS THE 2 SEATER requirement that half the people seem to keep missing and I don't think anybody has mentioned yet is the toyota MR2 spyder. Its another miata solstice kinda car but I can't remember if it comes in an automatic or not.

Hm....... I was gonna get the RX-8, but got the RSX-S instead.
Hm....... I keep reading about how sucky people think the RX-8 is, especially on mazda forums. Search for Mazda forums on google and then research RX-8 for more info.

Thats because a lot of them expect it to perform like the second coming of the fd. Its not, it handles well, comes in auto, sporty looking, not too expensive, and well, its a rotory! Bad thing is you'll probably have to have everything related to the motor done at the dealer, and only specific ones at that, unless you live in the rotory areas, like southern cali, bay area northern cali, and 2-3 more throughout the US that has well-known rotory mechanics.

what about the 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder? I heard Mitsu's were becoming more reliable now. Otherwise, the s2k, 350z, rx8, and miata in that order. I would personally stay away from the domestics for the pure basis of resale value.

Has she considered a Toyota Prius? Yes, I know it doesn't fit the two-seater requirement stated, but you can't beat the mileage and there's the tax credit.

New Mustang.

Look at insurance costs for anything you buy.

I was going to buy a new car at age 21,
the insurance was going to be more than the car payments. :|

You are officially an idiot now.

Like I said, HER words not mine. The hardtop 350z is decent to me.

So the cars still on the list are the miata or pontiac. I think the crossfire is out. The sky would be nice also but I don;t think will be out until next year.

with that said, the crossfire is BASED on the OLD merc SLK, without the electric hardtop, without the merc interior, and its trunk is one of the most stupidest design i've ever seen. it's not that exciting, not that fast, not that luxurious, and not that sporty, and not even that cheap. sorry for being too harsh, but it's a bad car unless you can get it for really cheap.

Says someone who's never driven it.

You thought about the Saturn Sky?

Why kick the RX-8 out for the extra two seats?

It looks like a coupe, it handles like a coupe, just the Mazda people managed to find a way to make it a somewhat practicle car, too. 4 real seats should be a point in its favor.

I know, I know. But it is her car and her mind set. That and I have to live with her, so I juts TRY to explain and if she still says no I move on. Trust me, makes life so much easier. :) Kinda like when she said the 350z is ugly, etc... That is why I started this thread to try and get as many ideas as I can to make my life that much easier
