Looking for information on the steak in the first Matrix movie.

I've been searching around but couldn't find anything so I was wondering if anyone knew any specifics about the steak in the restraunt scene between Cypher and Agent Smith in "The Matrix" (cut, dimensions, seasoning, how it was cooked, etc.).

My goal is to make something similar...

(BTW, I did find the thread "Best way to pan fry a 1 inch thick steak?" and read through it so I know the general cooking techniques people use.)

Also, I was never able to make a good steak until I got a meat thermometer. I like mine medium-rare, anything more is like chewing on leather, IMHO. Invest in a good one and trust it. It has taken me awhile to really believe my wireless thermometer is right, but it really is.
 
this is definitely a first.

From what I remember, it was a thick cut.

and since it was a fancy restaurant, I would by default think it is Filet Mignon.

Nothing wrong with searing it briefly on a hot iron skillet before you pop it in the broiler.

But aside from the fact that it was a movie prop, I don't think there was anything magical about the steak. Get a thick cut of steak, don't overcook it. Don't put too much crap on it.

I beg to differ. Often the pan is much hotter than the broiler. Hence why they sear on the pan.

I dont know whats worse... a man trying to fashion his steak after one seen in a movie, or a man who thinks pan frying a steak is a good way to cook it.

Damn, I have to wait til tomorrow for a steak. That's okay though, tomorrow is steaks on the grill, football and beer day; I can wait. 😀

That is sad.

Anyhow, I usually sear my steaks for ~1 minute each side and pop it in the oven broiler for a bit. Great to get a cast iron skillet and sear the meat in that then just shove the entire skillet into the oven.

I don't get it, why is that sad? I was watching the movie and thought it looked good. I'm just looking for some information. If you don't got it... don't reply.

You know what's really sad... people who have no lives and waste their time replying to a post they consider sad.

Thanks to everyone else for their input. If anyone has some specifics that would be great.

I don't see whats wrong with it either. I remember searching for months for a frozen entree that came out looking like the lasagna that Danny Devito cooked in Twins for Arnold.
