OP - 25gb/day is 750 a month, which you could easily get for about $100 a month. However, you would be looking at low end dedicated servers, not shared hosting accounts, and the type of files you are serving are another factor (as you would need a more powerul server)

With a lot of users online at once, bandwidth doesn't become an issue, hardware to process all the requests does. Bandwidth is cheap, higher end servers aren't.

Expect to pay a few hundred or more per month to be able to 'handle' the 25GB/mo. WHT has a bunch of companies offering services, take a look.

That really depends on your forum's growth. For a forum which grows quickly and has to constantly upgrade it's hardware it would be cheaper to lease rather than to own. You would also be responsble if a hardware component broke. If you are at a stable size then it may be worth the investment to purchase the server, but bandwidth prices will go up significantly if you are not leasing the box from a datacenter. For high bandwidth it is cheaper to go with leased (just about always) because the bandwidth price for leased boxes is incredibly cheap.

Don't be a cheap ass, get a dedicated server. I've seen them as cheap as $80/mo with no control panel and semi-managed.
