This was semi-serious? I started laughing when you posted. I thought it was some sicko joke by Anand.

If you want people to work for you they need to be compensated, if you don't plan on making money with the site you won't be able to afford to pay your webmaster.

Your business plan just needs a bit of logic.... or a lot.

Oh, and here is a LOL.

Look how easily he became discouraged and gave up in this THREAD ABOUT THE WEBSITE. Hahaha.

Damn, you guys are harsh. Let the OP ask for help, and if nobody comes calling, then so be it. No need to bash him into the ground. You never know when a like-minded individual would want to help with a project like this for little to no money. Not everybody codes for a living and expects lots of money in return for every if/else they put in notepad.

are you planning on paying a lot of money? To build from the ground up is expensive and very difficult to maintain if the developer leaves. Think about using a prebuilt portal.

I bet if Anand posted all those years ago on some other forum that he needed help making a review site , he would have got bashed, too.
"You're how old? ahahaha"
"You want to name the site 'AnandTech'? LOL"

Granted, Anand is a genius and probably had brilliant reviews already and did most of the groundwork and site building himself from the beginning...

Stellarex, you actually don't especially need a developer working full time or part time on your project. There are free software packages that do 100% of what sites like AnandTech do - you don't seem to have any special needs that go above and beyond simple article posts and a forum:

1. Install WordPress on your web hosting account.

2. Purchase a spiffy WordPress theme. (Ignore the content there now, just find something with a look and feel to your liking and swap out text as needed.)

3. Set up vBulletin for your forums.

4. Write articles for your website.

What will differentiate you from everyone else: Quality content. Anand Lal Shimpi achieved success because he put out a large quantity of quality, trustworthy content. The forums grew in population because, again, the content inspired discussion.

If you've ever read any of Lal Shimpi's articles you can tell that a pretty intelligent mind is at work and that he really, really knows his stuff. Can you boast the same? If you can't, you at least need to have the cash on hand to hire and pay people who do know the industry.

Um... you sure you're thick-skinned enough to run a review site?

Exactly what I was thinking. So he registered a domain and has a hosting company. Maybe $50 invested so far? LOL.
