Looking for a steak knife set of 8 for under $200

As the title says...

I'm not going super high end here, but for sure not low end either. I'm looking for something that I don't have to sharpen every year either, so it will have to be serrated.

Any suggestions?

For the value end of cutlery I usually recommend Tramontina and Victorinox, what sdifox linked will work fine.

Sometimes you can find good forged pieces from Chicago Cutlery and Henckel/Wusthoff on sale, it's worth a look. I think stamped is fine for steak knives though, modern high-carbon stainless alloys are all pretty decent these days.

I love my Chicago Cutlery, they hold an edge quite well, but, the steak knives are not serrated. Good luck with your search.

Only on ATOT is a $200 set of steak knives considered not high end. Personally mine are handcrafted blades of gold with a diamond inlaid handle. I have someone on staff to sharpen them when needed in between bites.

As others have said, I wouldn't spend a ton of money on steak knives as they're typically serrated and difficult if not near impossible to sharpen, so if they do reach a point where they can't be used, you just replace them.

I've been using cheap Ikea ones (I think they were $20-25 for a set of 6) for a couple years now with no issues and they've held up well. My only issue is that they don't match any of my other cutlery, but that's minor to me.

Who did you get them from? It would go well with my gold toilet paper.

According to Amazon, I bought my Henckel's Pro S steak knives for $200.

... gold can't cut shit.

$200 for steak knives? Damn. My knives are throwaways I got for free. Same with cups, plates, pots, pans, and most of my kitchen items. I don’t have matching set of anything since it’s all second hand free stuff. What kind of steaks are you eating you need like samurai grade knives?

Still soft, doesn't matter how sharp it is if it warps when you apply pressure to it.
Nonsense. Gold and silver are similar on the hardness scale. There are plenty of sterling silver knives. You don't see much made with gold because it's expensive. Plus silver has antibacterial properties. Which is why the wealthy ate with silver spoons.
