G35 or CTS

CTS is leagues better and a tad bigger than the G35, but it costs more. The CTS base engine at 2.8L is not very good so you would want to move up to the 3.6L.

I would also recommend:
Mazda 6s - 220HP 6spd Automatic trans (same interior size as TL)
Lincoln LS - 232 HP V6 5sp Automatic RWD 280HP V* also available
Volvo S40 T5 - 220HP AWD available
Saab 9-2X
Pontiac G6 GTP - 240HP V6
Altima SE-R

The TL fanboys are hard in this forum, a great FWD car with loads of options: Downside is that they sell close to 100,000 of these cars so you have no individuality.

How is the CTS leagues better than the G35? I don't recall it losing to the CTS in any of the car mags.

Personal Preference? But yeah in every review I can recall G35 beats out a CTS.

He already has an Audi A6 and it's a total piece of crap. He doesn't want another unreliable German car.

I say get a used Buick Regal GS. Not nearly that expensive, reliable, parts aren't going to break the bank, and gets > 20 MPG.

I have been reading through a few articles and the TL is really starting to look like its the car for me. Any acura owners, can you comment on the reliability? A ways back I had a 93 civic and I had pretty much no problems. My repairs were also very affordable. How about acuras? I would assume they follow in reliability with hondas?

Car and Driver has a good matchup of mid-level sedans, 8 vehicles. Should give you a decent idea of what to expect

Your best bet is to just drive them and see what you like best.

My friend has the new TL and he hasn't had any problems with it. I have an Acura MDX and had a few recalls on it. One in particular was a bad one for a faulty transmission. The older TL, CL and MDXs had bad 5 speed auto transmissions. The only problem I've had with my MDX has been with the stereo which they fixed.

If you look for individuality out of an item like a car, you need help. If you think there is individuality among $30K consumer level cars, you need help.

If you think a CTS is leagues better than a G35... well you know the rest. hehe

Our TL has 1k mileage at this time and so far so good. You can read some of the problems encountered by owners here...Text

What a bunch of crock. I pay 1279/yr for 2 cars, a g35 and an old 240sx. I have full coverage on the g35 and liability on the nissan. I even have 2 tickets on my record.

I'm surprised more ppl aren't recommending the Honda. Accords are very nice all around, they handle okay, and the Hybrid is pricey but gets great mileage for a powerful V6. I'm sure you know the details on that system, so right now we can't really speak to maintenance costs. I'd imagine if the hybrid system breaks down, it might be very expensive to repair. Regardless, it looks like a great machine and Accords have great resale value.

Otherwise I would go for an Acura TL for power & luxury. The Maxima is nice, but both the Maxima & TL are so common you have no individuality.

I would say Accord if gas milage is a greater concern to you, but by the sounds of it, power is pretty important to you and the Accord might be a bit lacking compared to some of the others listed.

E90 BMW 325i. An inline six is better than a v6 any day. Plus RWD. Plus it's a BMW.

Yup! You're right! I pay the same amount for my g35 coupe and that of my wife's TL which is rated a high performance car by the insurance company.

What do you guys think?

What do I think? I think all those cars suck. Why is 30,000 the baseline? You can get a good car for less than 30,000.

I have an IS300 right now. Absolutely love it, however with 215 crank / 175 wheel compared to my last car (415 wheel) it's pretty slow. The new IS250 is right in your price range but not sure about the hp requirements, and its available in RWD or AWD if you are a quattro fan. IS350 is pretty peppy from the reviews, but probably not in your desired price range. It's a Toyota, so labor isn't that bad, and they are very reliable to boot. THe new IS are umpteen times more luxurious than the first gen IS. But I am partial to Toyotas :)

Hmm, did you consider the Toyota Avalon? The new model is pretty sharp looking, has good hp (268hp), and gets good gas mileage (22/31).
